Gasometer Urban Suites Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Gasometer Urban Suites in Rome‘s Ostiense district, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical tourist hotel. The building has this cool industrial vibe that fits perfectly with the neighborhood’s edgy character — honestly, it feels more like staying at a friend’s stylish loft than a traditional hotel. The four-star property sits on Via del Porto Fluviale, and I have to say, the location surprised me in the best way possible.
The Ostiense Experience
Here’s what I love about this area — you’re staying in one of Rome’s most authentic neighborhoods, away from the tourist crowds but still incredibly well-connected. Ostiense has become this vibrant hub where locals actually hang out, with street art covering old warehouse walls and some genuinely fantastic bars and eateries tucked into converted spaces. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location 8.5), and I can see why. You can walk to Testaccio for incredible food, catch the metro at Piramide, or even stroll along the Tiber when you need a break from sightseeing.
Your Urban Suite
The room itself feels spacious and modern, with clean lines and thoughtful design touches that make you want to actually spend time there. What struck me most was how quiet everything was — despite being in an urban setting, the soundproofing really works. The suites live up to their name too, giving you enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I mean, after a long day of walking around Rome’s cobblestones, having a proper space to decompress makes all the difference.
Practical Perks
Breakfast here covers both Italian and American styles, which honestly works well when you’re traveling with different preferences. Some mornings you want that proper Italian coffee and cornetto, other days you just need something more substantial before tackling the Colosseum crowds. The private parking is actually a huge deal if you’re driving — finding secure parking in Rome can be a nightmare, so having it sorted removes one major headache from your trip. The kitchen facilities in select suites also provide flexibility for longer stays.
Why Guests Love It
The location score of 8.4 really tells the story here. You’re positioned in what locals consider one of Rome’s coolest up-and-coming areas, but you’re not paying historic center prices or dealing with those overwhelming tourist crowds. The metro connections mean you can be at the Spanish Steps or Vatican in about 20 minutes, but when you come back in the evening, you get to experience Rome as it actually is — not just as a museum. Plus, there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels contemporary and efficient after spending your days in ancient ruins and baroque churches. This apartment-style hotel truly captures the essence of modern Roman living.

I loved every moment of my stay! The apartment was spacious, beautifully designed, and clean, with thoughtful details like Grown Alchemist toiletries (now that scent is forever tied to my Roman memories). The team was incredibly helpful – even though I called them like a million times, they were always kind and ready to assist. A special thanks for offering us an early check-in, it was such a thoughtful gesture and made our trip even better. Many thanks again, and I can’t wait to come back!!
Lacey from United States (9/10)
The apartment was very spacious and the decor was retro. Very clean lines and a calming energy. The king bed was comfortable, blackout shades a huge plus and the shower was lovely. I would have liked to stay longer and use the kitchen and terrace but I was only in and out. Free and easy parking on the apartment street. Great crepe and gelato shop up the way as well as a bar with a great Aperativo deal. I will absolutely stay again.
