You know what caught me off guard about Garden Area Roma Eur? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet pocket of Ostiense that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos, even though you’re still technically in Rome. I mean, Via Del Forte Ostiense isn’t exactly a street name that rolls off most visitors’ tongues, but that’s honestly part of its charm – you get this sense of staying somewhere locals might actually choose.

The whole area has this interesting mix going on. You’ve got the EUR district just south of here, which is fascinating if you’re into that stark Fascist-era architecture (it’s like stepping into a Wes Anderson film, honestly), and then you can catch the metro pretty easily to get into central Rome when you want that full-blown historical overload. What I really appreciated though was coming back here in the evenings – there’s something refreshing about being able to decompress without street performers and crowds of people taking selfies right outside your window. The hotel itself sits in this green area that actually lives up to its name, which is more than you can say for a lot of places in Rome where “garden” means a single potted plant in the lobby.

The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than going through the motions, and check-in was smooth – no standing around while they “find your reservation” or any of that nonsense. Rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place: clean, comfortable beds, decent WiFi that actually works (crucial if you’re trying to book tickets for the Colosseum or figure out train schedules). The bathroom was modern enough, though honestly the shower pressure wasn’t spectacular – but let’s be real, you’re not coming to Rome for the shower experience. What impressed me more was how quiet it stays at night, especially compared to hotels near Termini or in the centro storico where you’re dealing with scooters and late-night revelers until 3 AM. Here, you might hear the occasional car, but it’s actually peaceful enough to sleep with the windows open during the cooler months. The breakfast spread was solid too – nothing fancy, but proper coffee and enough variety that you won’t feel like you’re eating the same cornetto every morning. If you’re planning to explore beyond the typical tourist trail or just want somewhere that feels less like a tourist processing center, this place makes sense.

  I understand asking for my room number the 1st time I had breakfast, but asking for my room number every single time is a bit weird and irritating 😶‍🌫️

  What could be improved: I think the price includes using internet but this hotel had condition for using. It first collected our data inclusive date of birth then gave us access to internet. It was the first hotel in my many accommodations over the last 8 years holidays.

  The hotel is clean and the rooms are clean. Subway station near the hotel is a plus, helping you tot reach city center very quick.
