Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to G Marconi Rooms & Suites – it’s tucked away in this residential area of Portuense that most tourists never see, and the address (palazzina 4, piano terra) had me thinking it might be some converted apartment situation. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones hiding in plain sight.

The moment I walked in, I got it. This place has that rare thing where it feels both polished and genuinely comfortable – like someone actually thought about how real people move through a space. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” without being fussy about it. Everything just… works. The bed situation is fantastic (I’m talking proper linens, not that scratchy hotel stuff), and honestly, the bathroom setup puts most fancy places to shame. What really got me though was the attention to small details – good lighting where you actually need it, enough outlets in the right spots, and thank god, decent water pressure. I mean, these things matter when you’re trying to get ready for a day of wandering around Rome.

Location-wise, here’s the thing about staying in Portuense – you’re about 15 minutes from the chaos of central Rome, but you get to experience how Romans actually live. There’s this great little market on Via Portuense where locals do their shopping, and the neighborhood has that authentic residential vibe that’s getting harder to find. The area’s well-connected by public transport (the buses run frequently), but it’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep at night without sirens and scooters constantly going by. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven in Rome will tell you is basically a miracle. The staff – and I don’t say this lightly – actually seem to enjoy helping people figure out the city. They pointed me toward this incredible trattoria about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise, and their recommendations for getting around were spot-on. That 9.6 rating? Yeah, I get it now. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Rome, but everything it does, it does really well.

  Wonderful stay! Patrizia is extremely helpful and friendly. She answered my questions before I could even ask them 🙂 I have received some very useful information and tips. The room was very nice and clean. Working air conditioning was an awesome addition, as the temperature was very different than in Poland when we were leaving the country. I truly recommend staying here.
  
  What could be improved: Location was quite far from the centre, which was great and I chose it with the full knowledge of this fact. However, I did not expect the public transportation to be THAT chaotic 😅 I would not list is as a minus tho, that was fully on me. And it was rather quiet in the night, which was a huge plus. Also, there are a lot of shops, restaurants and other useful facilities in the near. And the prices are good!

  I had a wonderful experience at this accommodation! The room is very charming, perfect for someone traveling alone to Rome — cozy, welcoming, and tastefully decorated. The location is excellent: close to the bus stop that takes you directly to the city center and surrounded by many useful shops and restaurants.
  
  The host, Patrizia, is absolutely a 10/10! A very hospitable, friendly woman who was always available and helped me with everything I needed, especially with valuable information about what to do and see in Rome. I truly felt welcomed!
  
  Cleanliness was impeccable throughout my stay, and the whole experience at the accommodation was a lovely one. I will definitely come back here with pleasure! I have absolutely nothing negative to say.

  Udoban krevet/jastuk,besprijekorno čist i moderan apartman,čisto kupatilo sa jakim mlazom vode..sve je savrseno!!
  Cak ima i zajednicki prostor gdje imate kuhinju sa kafe aparatom..ulazak je preko šifre/zgarada sigurna..
  Svakako je dodatak svemu i vlasnica Patricija koja je dostupna putem whats up uvijek i vrlo jasno daje upute i savjete.

  What could be improved: Treba znati da centar nije baš na udaljenosti da bi se išlo pješke,ali zgrada je dobro povezana autobusima..
