Hotel Description
I’ll be honest, when I first walked up to the Foresteria di Piazza Cavour on Via Crescenzio, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked between some fairly ordinary Roman buildings and doesn’t scream “luxury” from the street. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place special. It’s like discovering a secret that the locals have been keeping to themselves.
The moment you step inside, everything changes. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels more like walking into a sophisticated friend’s home than a hotel. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day (which honestly surprised me), and they’ll give you the kind of neighborhood tips that you won’t find in guidebooks. Like how the best gelato is actually three blocks away at a tiny place that doesn’t even have a proper sign, or which streets to avoid during the morning school rush. The suites themselves are what really won me over – spacious by Roman standards, with these beautiful high ceilings and windows that let in so much light you forget you’re in the middle of a bustling city. I mean, the beds are ridiculously comfortable, and the marble bathrooms feel genuinely luxurious without being over-the-top. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night; you’re close enough to hear the occasional scooter puttering down Via Crescenzio, but it’s more charming than disruptive.
The location is pretty brilliant when you think about it. You’re a ten-minute walk from St. Peter’s (seriously, I timed it), but you’re staying in Prati, which is where actual Romans live and work. This means you get proper neighborhood cafés where the barista will judge you if you order a cappuccino after 11 AM, and local restaurants where they’re not trying to fleece tourists with overpriced carbonara. The metro station at Lepanto is right there, so getting to the Colosseum or Spanish Steps is straightforward, but honestly, I found myself just walking everywhere because the neighborhood itself is so pleasant. There’s this wonderful covered market, Mercato Trionfale, about fifteen minutes away where you can grab fresh fruit and watch local families doing their weekly shopping – it’s the kind of authentic Roman experience that feels completely natural when you’re staying here rather than forced. I should mention that parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (welcome to Rome), but they’ll help you figure it out, and really, you won’t need a car anyway. The 9.1 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Rome, but it absolutely nails what it is: a sophisticated, comfortable base in a neighborhood that feels real, with staff who genuinely care about making your stay memorable.

We had two connected rooms and traveled jn January 2025. We loved this place and it will be top of mind if I go back to Rome.
Friendly reception. Quiet, bright and spacious rooms with high ceilings. Good price-quality. Clean. Plenty of towels. A short walk from Castel D’Angeles. 10 minutes to the vatican and 20 minutes to the Pantheon. In 5 minutes, passing the beautiful Piazza Cavour, you’ll find Neve di Latte for excellent ice cream.Matthew from United States (10/10)
