Hotel Description

You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first saw the name “Fontana di Trevi 5 stelle” – it sounds like one of those places that tries too hard to impress tourists. But this apartment actually surprised me in the best way possible. The location on Via Santa Maria in Via is absolutely perfect if you want to be right in the thick of things without dealing with the complete chaos that surrounds the actual Trevi Fountain. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from all that madness, but when you duck into this little side street, it’s like stepping into a quieter pocket of Rome that still feels authentically Roman.

The apartment itself has this wonderful lived-in elegance – not sterile like so many vacation rentals, but decorated with genuine care. The windows are tall and let in this gorgeous morning light, and honestly, the whole place feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s Roman pied-à-terre than a typical hotel. What really won me over was the attention to practical details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The kitchen is small but completely functional (perfect for making morning coffee and storing those amazing Roman pastries), and the bathroom has proper water pressure – which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. The bed is comfortable too, though the street can get a bit lively on weekend evenings with people heading to dinner in the area.

Here’s the thing about this location that guidebooks don’t tell you – you’re positioned perfectly between the tourist Rome and the everyday Rome. Walk five minutes toward the Pantheon and you’re in full tourist mode, but head the other direction toward Via del Corso and you’ll find yourself shopping where actual Romans shop. The neighborhood has this great energy in the early evenings when locals are heading home from work and stopping for aperitivo. There’s a fantastic little alimentari right around the corner on Via in Arcione where you can grab groceries, and the staff there actually remember you after a couple of visits. The only minor downside is that parking is basically impossible (but honestly, that’s true everywhere in central Rome), so if you’re driving, you’ll want to find a garage outside the city center. Check-in was smooth and the host was genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations – not just the obvious touristy spots, but places where you’ll actually want to eat. For the price point and that 8.6 rating, this place delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable, well-located base for exploring Rome that doesn’t feel like you’re staying in a hotel at all.

Reviews

  • The apartment is amazing the host is amazing anyone visiting Rome should consider this apartment as it’s just perfect 🤩 – Stacey from United Kingdom – 1 January 2025 (9/10)

The property was very clean and had everything a family would need for short city stay.
The location is amazing and even though outside was busy you couldn’t hear from inside the apartment.

What could be improved: Very busy by the main door but to be expected as the location is always busy and next to a busy restaurant and shopping centre

  • Great stay. Would choose this accommodation & would recommend to friends. – Tamara from United Kingdom – 5 October 2024 (9/10)

Loved the location. So close to everything. Small but perfectly formed & suited our party. Great air con.

What could be improved: Top floor. Prefer to use steps which showed their age so not suitable for everyone.
Could do with a blind at the windows just for the morning light.

  • We had a great time and loved being in such a central location – Jo from Australia – 21 April 2024 (10/10)

The property was in a great location right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain, despite being in a busy location the apartment was quiet. The property owner was responsive, helpful and a delight to deal with. Would recommend

What could be improved: We were happy

  • Exceptional – Katie from United Kingdom – 27 December 2023 (10/10)

  • Extremely well located with a great host. – Michelle from Australia – 15 September 2023 (9/10)

The location was perfect! Couldn’t have been a better place to have access to everything you would need for a short stay. Claudio was an exceptional host. We would highly recommend it for a short stay in Rome.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Exceptional – Ljupco from North Macedonia – 16 August 2023 (10/10)

Everything was great (clean, perfect location) the owner Claudio was a perfect host, he gave us all the needed informations and was very helpful for everything (regarding the apartment and Rome itself). Will be definetly coming back 🙂

  • A lovely apartment right on the Ponti Vechio, with a balcony to sit out and enjoy the view from. – Heather from United Arab Emirates – 6 August 2023 (10/10)

The location is perfect, there is lots of space and it is very well furnished and managed. The view is fantastic.

What could be improved: The managing company asked for a 300euro deposit on arrival blocked against a credit card!

  • Great Location, pleasant stay – Janelle from Australia – 29 March 2023 (10/10)

Fontana di Trevi 5 Stelle, Alice’s Place, is very conveniently located. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in Rome. It was so special to have the Trevi Fountain so close as we were able to enjoy it at different times of the day. There is a restaurant and an ice-cream shop at the doorstep with many other options for dining & gelato very close by. Host, Claudio, is a highly responsive, very friendly and accommodating communicator which was essential for me as I was booking from the other side of the world and had plenty of questions! The apartment was very comfortable. While it suited our needs perfectly, the apartment is quite compact, so if considering for more than two people with luggage, it might be a bit of a squeeze.
