Hotel Description
You know what? The Flower Garden Hotel totally surprised me – and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Via Del Viminale 7. I mean, it’s literally a stone’s throw from Termini Station, so I figured it’d be one of those generic transit hotels where you just crash before catching your train. But this place actually has character.
The location is kind of perfect if you think about it. Yeah, you’re right in the Central Station area, but Via Del Viminale is this quieter side street that feels removed from all the chaos of Termini’s main entrance. I could walk to the Baths of Diocletian in about three minutes (seriously underrated ruins, by the way), and getting to the Colosseum was just a quick metro ride or a pleasant 15-minute walk through some lovely neighborhoods. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests – not that forced hotel smile thing – and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No upselling, no complicated key card explanations, just “here’s your room, breakfast is until 10, need anything else?”
What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this little oasis feeling despite being in such a busy part of Rome. The rooms aren’t huge – this is a 3-star place in central Rome, so adjust expectations accordingly – but they’re thoughtfully designed. Mine had this nice view of a quiet courtyard (hence the “garden” name, I think), and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than some 4-star places I’ve stayed. The bathroom was compact but functional, with decent water pressure and those little touches that show someone cares – good lighting, a proper shelf for your toiletries, towels that actually felt soft. I appreciated that the windows had proper shutters, not just those flimsy curtains you get in a lot of hotels, because Rome can get pretty bright in the morning.
The neighborhood comes alive in the evening, too. There’s this fantastic little trattoria called Da Valentino just around the corner on Via del Boschetto – the kind of place where locals actually eat, not just tourists. And if you need groceries or forgot to pack something, there’s a Conad City supermarket practically next door. The area feels safe walking around at night, which isn’t always a given near major train stations. I mean, use common sense and all that, but I never felt uncomfortable coming back late from dinner or drinks.
Look, the Flower Garden Hotel isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-run place that gives you excellent value in a part of Rome where you could easily pay twice as much for half the charm. The rating of 8 feels spot-on – it’s not luxury, but it’s comfortable, clean, and run by people who actually seem to care about their guests’ experience. If you’re looking for a base to explore Rome without breaking the bank, and you want to stay somewhere that feels more like a neighborhood gem than a tourist trap, this is your spot.

Reviews
It was good and nice. – Kamal from United States – 2 June 2025 (7/10)
There was no coffee machine or water boiling kettles in the room. I expected at least coffee/tea and cups in the room for this type of facility. Room WIFI was like it did not exist.
What could be improved: Location, cleanliness, comfort.Lovely stay nice staff friendly – Joy from Australia – 18 May 2025 (8/10)
hotel location convenient, lots to eat, safe place
staff lovely, breakfast excellent, clean rooms nice surroundings
What could be improved: everything great just maybe coffee facilities in roomSuperb – Minna from Finland – 13 May 2025 (9/10)
The location was excellent, Roma Termini and metro were very close, as were restaurants and the Colosseum and other attractions within walking distance. The hotel was tidy and cozy and the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Ferdinando. We stayed at hotel for 5 nights and the window was to the inner courtyard. The breakfast was good enough.
Very nice staff – Jenny from United States – 5 May 2025 (9/10)
It couldn't be a better location, very close to Termini with lots of restaurants around. But what we liked the most was the staff, very helpful and friendly, especially Ferdinando what a character! It would be so nice to meet more people like him, always with a very positive, happy and welcoming attitude. The rooms on the first floor are renovated and spacious, the restroom is spacious as well. Breakfast has many choices and as much coffee as you want, the lady attending the breakfast room was very nice and attentive.
What could be improved: At times there is a sewerage smell coming from the bathroom, but we will stay there again if we come back to Rome.Basic hotel near the Termini train station – Lynn from Canada – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
Our plans changed a month out from arriving in Rome and the place we regularly stay was full. We were getting off a cruise in Civitavecchia and needed somewhere for two nights near the train station (5-minute walk). The staff were very friendly. Ferdinando was so funny and animated. He speaks 10 languages! We arrived early and stored our bags at the hotel. The room was basic (#226). It was on the 2nd floor (3rd floor in North America) and was the top floor. Furniture was in good repair although the wallpaper was looking a bit tired. We found the beds very comfortable. TV had a few English language channels. The room faced a courtyard at the back of the hotel. You could open the window and it had a pull down bug screen. There was a bit of noise from fans in the courtyard, but aside from that we didn't hear very much street traffic (except for the occasional siren). We closed the window at night and didn't hear any outside noise. We didn't need heat or aircon so can't comment on that. There was a breakfast room and they charged 10 euros. We didn't use it, opting instead to go to a cafe. Reviewers often comment on the area around the train station not feeling safe, but we've always stayed in that area and never had an issue because there are so many tourists, hotels and restaurants that the area is always busy. Directly next to the train station may be sketchy at night, but a 5-minute walk and the area changes completely.
What could be improved: The sleeping area, sink, bidet and toilet were all clean, but the shower stall needed a very good steam cleaning. There was a lot of mold at the base of the walls and around the sliding door. There was a fan in the bathroom, but it wasn't enough to keep mold from forming. I Lysol wiped the shower floor and jumped in! I will say the shower had good pressure and temperature control, but the mold issue creeped me out. As mentioned in other reviews, the walls are thin and we could hear the people talking in the room next to us and in the hallway, but we were so tired from a day of touring we slept well. I gave the hotel an 8 rating because apart from the shower, everything else was good. Would I stay there again, probably not, unless I knew they cleaned the shower stalls. I've posted the positive photos, didn't even take a photo of the shower stall.Superb – Alarcon from United Kingdom – 11 April 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is very conveniently located, in a very safe area near lots of great restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming, we felt at home immediately. Breakfast was great. The room was very clean.
Good – Fazıl from Turkey – 2 March 2025 (7/10)
Good location, close to metro, restaurants nearby.
What could be improved: Room was very small and lack of decoration.Price and Benefit – Hüseyin from Turkey – 31 January 2025 (7/10)
Very close to termini. I stayed before and choose this time again.
Ferdinando ,incredible man
What could be improved: The hotel is undergoing renovations and therefore there was noise early in the morning.Good location and staff – Wesley from Brazil – 30 January 2025 (8/10)
Ferdinando is very nice, the location is closer to the train station and several good restaurants. It's close to the colosseo, fontana di trevi and many others.
What could be improved: Small bathroom, a lot of noise from a construction inside the hotel. The breakfast was very simple, no eggs or fruits.Superb – Алина from Bulgaria – 28 January 2025 (9/10)
We are very satisfied with the hotel, in a very good location, close to the center and Termini station but in a very nice street, safe and beautiful, with wonderful places for breakfast, cafes and restaurants. We were lucky to meet the receptionist Ferdinando:) Аn amazing Roman man cheerful, happy and positive person who filled our souls and made the impressions of our trip even more wonderful!!! Surely in the future, if we travel to Rome, we will look for this hotel again.

What could be improved: The Hotel was undergoing renovations, as they were renovating the rooms and it was a bit noisy in the mornings, but this is temporary and in fact the rest of the time we were out and we didn't feel any discomfort!!!
