Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about the Exe International Palace? It’s actually got some serious character for a four-star chain hotel. I mean, you walk up Via Nazionale and honestly, the building itself isn’t much to look at from the outside – sort of blends into that whole stretch of 19th-century Roman architecture. But once you’re inside, there’s this unexpected elegance that feels more boutique than business hotel.
The location is where this place really shines, and I don’t just mean because it’s central (though it absolutely is). You’re right in Monti, which – if you’ve spent any time in Rome – you know is that sweet spot between tourist convenience and actual neighborhood life. The Cavour metro stop is literally a two-minute walk, but more importantly, you can stumble out the front door and be at some genuinely great wine bars within minutes. There’s this little enoteca called Il Tasso just around the corner that locals actually go to, not just tourists with guidebooks. And honestly? The street noise isn’t as bad as you’d expect for Via Nazionale. The rooms facing the courtyard are dead quiet, though the street-facing ones do get some traffic sounds – nothing terrible, but worth mentioning when you book.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to get that balance between helpful and not hovering. Check-in was smooth, they actually knew the neighborhood when I asked about dinner recommendations (didn’t just hand me a generic list), and the concierge pointed me toward the food market at Mercato Monti instead of the touristy spots. The rooms themselves are well-appointed without being fussy – good beds, proper shower pressure, and those little touches that matter when you’re dealing with jet lag. The air conditioning actually works, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many Roman hotels mess that up. There’s no pool or anything fancy like that, but there’s a decent breakfast spread and the coffee is legitimately good, not that hotel coffee that tastes like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, which matters if you’re trying to work or just want to video call home without dropping the connection every five minutes. Overall, it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Rome, not just sleeping in a generic hotel that happens to be in Rome – and for the price point, that’s exactly what you want.

Location is perfect, only to Vatican Museum we went by metro, to all other sightseeings we went on foot. The Termini station is also close. The staff were very friendly, the room was spacious, clean, big balcony. Wi-fi was good, our room was on the 6th floor. The breakfast was excellent.

Property is centrally located to the main attractions of Rome. What you can’t walk to the 64 bus right outside the front door will take you there. Plenty of eating options in surrounding streets after a day of site seeing.
