You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up Via Rasella – it’s one of those narrow Roman streets that looks pretty ordinary until you realize you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. Elisa’s place sits right at number 134, and honestly, the location is kind of ridiculous in the best way possible. I mean, you can hear the fountain at night if you open your windows, which is either magical or slightly annoying depending on how tired you are.

The building itself has that classic Roman apartment feel – you’re not staying in some sterile hotel chain, but rather what feels like a friend’s well-appointed flat in the heart of the city. The rooms are actually quite spacious by Roman standards (and trust me, I’ve stayed in my share of shoebox-sized places here), and Elisa clearly knows what travelers need. There’s proper air conditioning – crucial during those sweltering July and August days when the city turns into an oven – and the WiFi actually works, which isn’t always a given in these older buildings. The bathrooms are modern without being overly fancy, and I appreciated the little touches like decent water pressure and toiletries that don’t smell like industrial cleaner.

What really sets this place apart though is the neighborhood knowledge you get. Elisa genuinely cares about making sure you experience Rome like a local, not just another tourist getting herded around. She’ll point you toward the little wine bar on Via del Tritone that’s always packed with Romans (never a bad sign), and she knows which gelato place near the Pantheon is worth the inevitable queue. The Trevi area gets absolutely mobbed during the day – I’m talking shoulder-to-shoulder chaos – but early morning or late evening, it’s surprisingly peaceful. You can actually enjoy your coffee at one of the nearby cafés without fighting for elbow room. The thing is, staying right here means you can pop out for that perfect fountain photo when the lighting is just right, then retreat back to your quiet street when the tour groups descend. Via Rasella itself is refreshingly calm considering you’re in the thick of everything – it’s mostly residential, so you get that authentic Roman neighborhood vibe rather than feeling like you’re camping out in a tourist trap. The 8.9 rating honestly makes sense when you factor in the combination of location, comfort, and the personal touch that makes you feel like you’ve got an insider’s perspective on the city.

  Easy check in.
  Host was accommodating when we requested extra pillows, they provided it right away.

  What could be improved: On our 2nd stay, we got into the room without electricity. That was around 8-9pm. So we called the host and there was a problem with the electricity provider. We were asked to transfer to another apartment for the mean time. We opted to stay overnight without electricity. At the same time, he got his technician to fix the problem which took.a while. In the end, it was fixed and we didnt need to transfer.

  Spacious and clean. 2 large bathrooms are a real luxury in Europe. The huge fluffy towels were even more luxurious. While the washing machine was broken, the host arranged for our laundry to be done for us. The front bedroom was a bit noisier, but the back one was very quiet. Kitchen larger with large appliances and dishwasher. Located by itself on the 4th floor but with a reliable lift and very secure door and locks. The location was excellent. Steps from a dozen restaurants and a grocery store and pharmacy as well as close to the Piazza Barberini hop on hop off bus tour stop. A lovely walk to the Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps. It was also interesting to discover that the building was a former home to a saint.
  
  What could be improved: Washing machine wasn’t functioning (but host arranged for laundry to be done) and an espresso machine and toaster would have been nice – but cafes literally outside the door.

  Ubicación excelente, super cerca de la Fontana de Trevi.
  Camas muy cómodas y sofá cama muy cómodo. Es grande y espacioso.
  La entrada está en una calle bastante concurrida y muy fácil de encontrar.
  
  What could be improved: Las ventanas no aíslan nada del ruido, y es horrible, se oye todo lo que pasa en la calle (recogida de basura, gente hablando, gente saliendo de los bares….), es muy muy molesto porque no hay un momento tranquilo en toda la noche.
  
  Ambas duchas son muy pequeñas, y en la ducha de la habitación interior se sale el agua por abajo.

  Grand appartement spacieux, un grand salon, deux salles de bain, une très belle chambre principle, une cuisine indépendante, idéalement situé au centre de Rome. Très bien!
  
  What could be improved: La chambre principale donne sur la rue qui est passante et c'est du simple vitrage, c'était donc extrémement bruyant. Nous avons du dormir dans la chambre simple pour pouvoir fermer l'oeil et éviter les bruits incessants de la rue.
