Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Rome, but this little gem on Vicolo Scanderbeg honestly caught me off guard. When they say 50 meters from Trevi Fountain, they mean you can literally hear the water splashing from your window – which, depending on your perspective, is either magical or potentially annoying if you’re a light sleeper. I mean, the tourist crowds start gathering around 7 AM, so there’s that gentle hum of excitement that builds throughout the day.
The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Roman flat rather than a typical hotel room, you know? The ceilings are high – that classic Roman thing – and there’s this warm, lived-in elegance that makes you want to stay in and make coffee rather than rush out to see the sights. The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need because there’s proper kitchen equipment (not just a sad mini-fridge), and the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the entire space. I was honestly impressed by the attention to detail – good water pressure in the shower, blackout curtains that actually block light, and they’ve managed to soundproof it pretty well considering you’re basically in the epicenter of tourist Rome.
Here’s what locals won’t tell you: Vicolo Scanderbeg is this tiny side street that most tourists rush past without noticing, but it’s actually one of the quieter pockets in the area. You’re close enough to duck into Salotto 42 for an aperitivo (about a three-minute walk) or grab morning cornetti from the little place on Via del Tritone without fighting through the Trevi crowds. The Barberini metro stop is maybe eight minutes away – I timed it because I’m weird like that – so you can actually get around the city without dealing with buses or expensive taxis. Parking is basically impossible around here, but honestly, if you’re driving in central Rome, you’ve already made questionable life choices. The thing is, you really don’t need a car when you’re this central – everything worth seeing is either walkable or a quick metro ride away. What really sold me was how the place felt after a long day of sightseeing. Instead of some sterile hotel room, you come back to this space that feels like a temporary home base, complete with a proper dining table where you can spread out your maps and leftovers from that amazing carbonara you couldn’t finish at lunch.

Property was in a very good location very close to the Trevi fountain. Plenty of restaurants nearby and a super market up the street. Flat was spacious and clean, with clean white sheets and plenty of towels. The bed was comfy.
