Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Rome, but this penthouse on Via Torino genuinely surprised me. You know how sometimes a place sounds too good to be true in the listing? Well, this one actually delivers. The location is honestly perfect – you’re right in Monti, which means you can walk to the Colosseum in about eight minutes (I timed it), but you’re also on this quiet residential street that doesn’t get the tourist chaos. The building itself is one of those classic Roman structures that’s been beautifully renovated, and when you step into the penthouse, the first thing that hits you is just how much light floods in from that private terrace.
The terrace is really the star here – I mean, you’ve got this incredible view that stretches across Rome’s rooftops, and in the early morning with your coffee, you can actually see the dome of St. Peter’s in the distance. The space itself feels authentically Roman rather than some generic luxury rental. The furniture has character, the kitchen is properly equipped (not just for show), and there’s this lived-in elegance that makes you feel like you’re staying in a sophisticated friend’s place rather than a hotel. What I really appreciated were the thoughtful touches – good reading lights by the bed, quality linens that actually feel nice, and a sound system that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate. The neighborhood is fantastic too. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Via Nazionale where you can catch buses or the metro, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by some of Rome’s best local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this tiny wine bar called Il Sorpasso just around the corner that locals pack every evening, and the morning market on Via del Boschetto (maybe a three-minute stroll) has the best produce and flowers in the area.
Honestly, the only minor thing I’d mention is that the building entrance can be a bit tricky to find the first time – it’s one of those understated Roman doorways that blends into the street – but once you’re oriented, it’s perfect. The host was incredibly responsive when I had questions about getting around, and check-in was smooth. What really sold me on this place was how it struck that rare balance between luxury and authenticity. You get the comfort and style you want, but you’re also genuinely living like a Roman for a few days. The terrace alone makes it worth it – I found myself having breakfast out there every morning, then coming back with wine in the evenings to watch the sun set over the city. If you’re looking for something special in Rome that’s not just another cookie-cutter luxury rental, this is it.

This is fabulous property right in the middle of a great part of the city. We were a family of 3 travelling for sightseeing shopping and good food and we were delighted with the property.
