You know what caught me off guard about Elegantis Des Artistes? The name makes it sound all fancy and intimidating, but honestly, it’s got this perfectly lived-in feel that made me want to stay way longer than planned. It’s right there on Piazza di Porta Maggiore – and I mean literally facing the ancient Roman gate, which is pretty wild when you’re having your morning coffee on the balcony. The location is actually genius if you think about it. You’re technically near Termini (Rome’s main station), but you’re tucked away on this quieter square where locals still do their shopping and kids play football in the evenings. I watched the same elderly gentleman walk his tiny dog past our window every morning at exactly 8:30.

The apartment itself – well, it’s clear someone who actually lives in Rome designed this place. The kitchen has proper coffee equipment (not those sad hotel pods), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re camping. The bathroom’s got one of those rainfall showers that actually works, which… let’s be honest, isn’t always guaranteed in Rome. What really got me was the attention to small things – good reading lights by the bed, USB outlets where you actually need them, and windows that open wide enough to let in those incredible Roman evening sounds. The building’s old but maintained, so you get those lovely high ceilings and original details without the usual quirks like temperamental plumbing. Though I should mention the elevator’s pretty tiny – if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, be prepared for some creative maneuvering.

The whole area around Porta Maggiore is having this quiet renaissance, I think. You’ve got the incredible Pigneto neighborhood just a short walk away – that’s where Romans in their twenties and thirties actually hang out, not the touristy spots. There’s this fantastic bakery called Panificio Bonci about ten minutes away where you can grab real Roman pizza al taglio for lunch. And here’s something most visitors miss: the Aurelian Wall is right there, so you can walk along ancient Roman fortifications to get to San Giovanni or even toward the Colosseum. It takes about twenty minutes on foot, but you’re following a path that’s literally thousands of years old. The metro’s close too (Porta Maggiore station), but honestly, I found myself walking everywhere because the neighborhood’s just pleasant to wander through. Gets a bit lively on weekend nights – Romans love their aperitivo hour – but it’s never obnoxious, just energetic in that distinctly Roman way.

  Super lokalizacja, właściwie wszędzie blisko, ale też dobra komunikacja. Tramwaj pod samym domem. Pokoje duże, czyste, wygodne. Dwie łazienki. Kuchnia z pełnym wyposażeniem, do tego suszarka, ręczniki, pościel, żelazko, pralka,zmywarka. Dużo miejsca , bez problemu pomiescilismy się w 8 osób. Miły właściciel, bezproblemowy kontakt.
  Przed domem mały ogródek. Właściwie niczego nam nie brakowało.

  Je bent niet zo ver van het openbaar vervoer. Naar de metro was ongeveer 10 minuten wandelen deze rijden elke 4 min en dit was voor ons i.v.m. bezienswaardigheden het makkelijkst voor ons. Tegenover het appartement is een tram en buslijn. Deze hebben wij niet gebruikt. De huissleutel brak door de midden en dat werd direct opgelost. 30 minuten later hadden wij een nieuwe sleutel.
