Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Eitch Borromini? It’s tucked into this gorgeous 15th-century palazzo that you’d probably walk right past if you weren’t looking for it. The entrance on Via di Santa Maria dell’Anima is honestly pretty subtle – no flashy signage or tourist traps nearby, which I actually loved. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon, but somehow it feels like you’ve discovered this hidden corner of Rome that most people miss.

The whole place has this authentic palazzo vibe without feeling like a museum you can’t touch. I mean, you’re staying in what used to be the Pamphilj family residence (yeah, those Pamphiljs – major papal dynasty back in the day), and they’ve done this clever thing where they’ve kept all the original frescoes and period details but made everything actually comfortable. The rooms have these incredible high ceilings with original artwork, and honestly, the bathrooms are way more spacious than you’d expect in a historic building like this. The staff really knows their stuff too – they’ll tell you about the building’s history if you’re into that, but they’re not pushy about it.

What really won me over was the location situation. You’re right in the heart of everything but on this quiet little street that doesn’t get the crazy foot traffic of the main piazzas. I could walk to Piazza Navona in about thirty seconds, hit Campo de’ Fiori for morning coffee, and still come back to actual peace and quiet. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals and visitors – you’ll see Romans grabbing aperitivo at the little bars nearby, not just tourists taking selfies. Parking is… well, it’s Rome, so forget about driving, but the 116 bus stops right around the corner if you need it. Check-in was smooth, and they actually helped me figure out the best walking routes to avoid the crowds during peak season. The only minor thing is that some rooms face the courtyard and can get a bit dim during winter months, but honestly, with all that gorgeous natural light bouncing off the ancient stone, it’s still pretty magical. The whole experience just feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find in central Rome – like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting it.

Reviews

  • Excellent service and staff – Christopher from United States – 28 June 2025 (10/10)

    Great location
    Great staff
    Great breakfast

  • Outstanding location, steps from the Piazza Navone, directly opposite a delicious pizza restaurant- great staff – thank – Ingeborg from United States – 12 June 2025 (10/10)

The history and the courtyard were very interesting. The outside seating was comfortable. The breakfast buffet is on the terrace on the 4th floor with beautiful views of historic Rome scenes.

What could be improved: Our suite had a series of stairs to the shower which made it difficult for me as I am mobility impaired. There is also a huge oil jar with scented reeds that gave me an instant headache which we moved outside the room.

  • Definitely worth the money for location alone! – Joy from Australia – 11 June 2025 (8/10)

The staff were fabulous! Location fabulous, close to hundreds of restaurants. You can walk to all the attractions if you want. On arrival to our room I could hear opera and opened our window to a beautiful concert in the church next door, that was my highlight 🥰

What could be improved: Unfortunately we had an issue with the hot water not working twice but the staff rectified it and then upgraded our room. We loved our first room better. The lift broke down but wasn’t an issue as we used the stairs anyway. So I wouldn’t not highly recommend here but these were the issues that presented on our stay.

  • Exceptional – Maris from Latvia – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

    Everything was perfect!

  • Exceptional – Mohinder from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (10/10)

The location was excellent for the attractions such as Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Colosseum and Vatican, all within walking distance. There were also plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants on the door step of the hotel.
The stagg were really helpful in terms of where to eat and where to go.

    What could be improved: Nothing
    It was all good

  • It is an amazing hotel, 17th century. Room was exceptional and comfortable. Will go back. – Cristel from United States – 27 April 2025 (10/10)

Location was great. Close to Pantheon, Trevi, Vatican area, shopping, restaurants. Lovely breakfast, great communication from the front desk,

What could be improved: Lots of street noise, even on the 4th floor. That is not the fault of the hotel, just the location, right off the Piazza Navona.

  • 4th visit, consistently satisfied. Excellent experience. – Diah from United States – 23 April 2025 (10/10)

Efficient and accommodating staff. Convenient location. Well-appointed room.
