Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Dulcis In Vatican? The moment I walked up to Via Angelo Emo 147, I realized I’d stumbled onto something most tourists completely miss. This little B&B sits in the Trionfale neighborhood – and honestly, if you’re not familiar with Rome beyond the obvious spots, you might not even know this area exists. But here’s the thing: you’re actually closer to Vatican City than most of the overpriced hotels near Termini, and the whole vibe is just… different. More real, I guess. The building itself is typical Roman residential – you’ll take scala D up to the fifth floor (there’s an elevator, thank God), and while the entrance might seem unassuming, that’s kind of the point.
What really got me was how the owners have managed to nail that sweet spot between feeling like you’re staying in someone’s home without actually being in their way. The rooms have this warm, lived-in quality – not fancy in a sterile hotel chain way, but comfortable in a way that makes you want to actually hang out there. The breakfast situation is honestly better than it has any right to be, and I mean that as a compliment. You’re not getting some sad continental spread here. Plus, and this is crucial if you’re planning to actually explore Rome properly, you can walk to the Vatican Museums in about fifteen minutes. But more importantly – and locals know this – you’re right near some incredible neighborhood spots that don’t show up in guidebooks. There’s this little market area nearby where you can grab actual groceries and not feel like you’re being gouged at every turn.
The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there, because it’s not trying to be something it’s not. Is it going to blow your mind with marble bathrooms and room service? No. But will you sleep well, eat a proper breakfast, and feel like you’re experiencing Rome instead of just checking boxes? Absolutely. The neighborhood gets quiet at night – like, properly quiet, not just “less traffic” quiet – which is harder to find in Rome than you’d think. And here’s something I didn’t expect: the owners actually know their stuff about getting around the city. Not in an annoying concierge way, but in a “oh, you’re going there? Take the 19 tram, it’s faster” kind of way. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked something, this place gets it right.

Reviews
Nice place – Catalina from United Kingdom – 3 July 2025 (10/10)
Very polite and helpful
What could be improved: I booked just for 1 day.Amazing place, close to everything, super clean, highly recommended! – Anton from Czech Republic – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Clean, very close to metro station (2 min walk), nice restaurants around, close to Vatican (20 min walk). Italian breakfast in restaurant nearby (croissant + coffee) included. Alberto was experienced host, very helpfull, all was smooth and easy.
What could be improved: Sleeping on the bed was bit harder for me, but it is personal preference.Good B&B in a well connected location. Ideal for Vatican. – Ashok from Singapore – 5 June 2025 (8/10)
Location was good for St Peter's and Vatican Museum (10-15 min walk), which was our reason for picking the place. Excellent location for getting to the airport and around the city as there is a train station, a Metro station and bus stops within a five minute walk. Walkable to the city as well – around 30 mins. Clean and well provided – four rooms with a common area that had coffee, tea, snacks, etc. Basic breakfast of pastry & coffee at a nearby cafe, which was adequate, but nothing special. Flexible with luggage drop off and storage. Good communication. Overall, no complaints and would recommend.
What could be improved: As mentioned above, breakfast was basic. Not a major issue for us as we generally have light breakfasts.Exceptional – Yuliia from Ukraine – 10 May 2025 (10/10)
Good value for money, good area, located 5 minutes from the metro, many cafes and shops nearby, good apartments with a balcony, I recommend.
Exceptional – Natalia from Russia – 25 March 2025 (10/10)
We lived here 6 days. All were good. The room was cleaned, we had water and juices in the room every day. Common space was comfortable, there is a sofa, a balcony and two tables for eating. The kitchen has big fridge with individual shelf for every room, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a stove, a washing machine and a dishwasher. It was very hospitality – the fruits, a pie and snacks every day.
We could stay our luggage inside after check-out. Near there is the underground station of Valle Aurelia, Conad supermarket. For the breakfast we had cards to the cafe Lasiciliana, it’s near from the hotel – coffee and brioche are nice for the start of day.
What could be improved: The stove was needed to turn on in the socket under and the surface of the stove was forced to the jams of coffee, a box with tea and a plant with a pie. For cooking, we needed clearing this surface. Maybe it would be better if all for the tea and coffee located on the separate small table. An unforgetable experience – Stefan from Malta – 6 March 2025 (10/10)
I have no other option but to grant maximum score! Not only that it fulfilled my expectations value for money and all other aspects, but also the owner of the property, Alberto save me from one of the most stressful situations I ever passed through, after my backpack got stolen in the City Centre. He spare no effort and money to see me safely returning back home. What a great man. My hat goes off for him!
The owner is a real diamond – Kateryna from Ukraine – 1 March 2025 (9/10)
The best part of the apartment is its owner who is very quick in support and really wants to serve you the best. The common kitchen is full of necessary stuff including tablets for dish washer, washing detergent, olive oil, sweets and fruits))
What could be improved: It’s a little bit far from the center if you like to walk but it’s comfortable if you use metro
Besides you should remember about tourist tax that is paid separately from the whole bill on bookinggreat affordable stay – Phillips from United States – 1 March 2025 (9/10)
Alberto was super responsive and helpful. Room and shared area very clean and well stocked. Very safe. I will stay here again for sure.
What could be improved: Shared area had a fish smell. Not sure if it was something someone cooked?Exceptional – Tomáš from Canada – 16 November 2024 (10/10)
perfekt
What could be improved: nothingWe would definitely stay there again – Clare from United Kingdom – 1 November 2024 (10/10)
This was a lovely room, in a great location. Staff were really friendly. Loved the fact they gave you vouchers for an Italian café for breakfast
What could be improved: Room wasnt huge but we were only there one night
