Hotel Description
You know what really struck me about Dulcis In Fundo when I first walked in? The name literally means “the best comes last” in Latin, and honestly, that’s pretty much how I felt about discovering this little gem tucked away on Viale Trastevere. I mean, most people rush straight to the Vatican or the Colosseum, but this B&B sits right in the heart of what I’d call Rome’s most authentic neighborhood – where you’ll actually hear Italian being spoken on the streets instead of just tourist chatter. The building itself has that weathered Roman charm you can’t fake, and the entrance doesn’t scream “hotel” which I actually loved because it felt more like staying at a friend’s place who just happens to have impeccable taste.
The owners clearly know their neighborhood inside and out, and they’re the type who’ll tell you to skip the overpriced trattoria two blocks down and head to the little place behind Santa Maria church instead (trust me on this one). What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve managed to keep that intimate B&B feel while still having proper hotel amenities – the rooms are genuinely comfortable, not just Instagram-pretty, and the soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re right on one of Trastevere’s main drags. I was worried about noise, but honestly, you get more of a gentle hum of Roman life than actual disruption. The breakfast situation is solid too, nothing fancy but they do this thing with local pastries that beats the hell out of most hotel buffets. And here’s something practical nobody tells you – parking in Trastevere is absolutely brutal, but they actually have arrangements with a nearby garage, which saved me about three hours of circling the cobblestone streets like a lost tourist.
What really won me over though was the location’s rhythm – during the day, you’re perfectly positioned to wander into the real Rome (the Porta Portese flea market on Sundays is a five-minute walk), but evenings transform the whole area into this magical tangle of narrow streets filled with locals grabbing aperitivo and tourists finally figuring out what they’ve been missing. The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting authentic Roman neighborhood vibes without sacrificing comfort, and the staff actually seems to enjoy helping rather than just going through the motions. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself taking longer routes just to walk through those characteristic Trastevere alleyways, and honestly, isn’t that exactly what you want from a Roman adventure?

Reviews
The property was very nice, but the breakfast left a lot to be desired. – Leslie from United States – 17 May 2025 (8/10)
The property is very nice and in an excellent location. The tram stops literally in front of the door. In 10 minutes you can walk to the area where all the restaurants are.
What could be improved: Our only complaint about the property was the breakfast that was provided. The breakfast was not in the building. You had to walk down the street to a restaurant where you were provided one cup of coffee and one pastry. We are accustomed to larger breakfast, including juice, eggs, cereal, or other things. We are also not accustomed to being limited to one small cup of coffee.Great place and location to stay in lively Trastevere and close to Rome historical locations. – Ana from Croatia – 28 April 2025 (8/10)
Great location, very clean, room tidying every day, Italian breakfast (coffee and croissant) in nearby coffee shop included, snacks, cake and water available and refilled every day.
What could be improved: This is not a critic, just information. Building is on the main street where tram passes by. When it passes you can feel it very much in building. We didn’t mind after 3-4 trams, we got used to it. 😊But someone who has poor sleep could maybe wake up or have problems to get asleep.Superb – Sergio from United States – 3 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location but at first it had some WiFi issues. Other than that, it was great and easily accessible.
Had a great time, wonderful staff. – Erin from Australia – 27 March 2025 (9/10)
The location was excellent. Staff unbelievably helpful. Blackout shutter was awesome.
What could be improved: The room I was in needs a new shower head, it doesn't stay in position and just falls to the wall. We propped it with a shampoo bottle and it was fine.3 days in Rome – Maria from Italy – 3 March 2025 (10/10)
Location of the property is super for those who truly love Trastevere, it’s just on the boulevard with easy connection to buses, tram and even by foot it’s around half an hour to piazza Venezia. B&B located on second floor of living beautiful building with elevator, independent entrances to the building and to B&B itself, very comfortable. Inside you have kitchen room with sofas, coffee/tea machine, fruits/cake for everyone to sit, relax- super cozy! Room was spacious, with big bathroom, big bed with good mattress, clean, water and juice in the fridge, some nice snacks for free. They give you coupon for hot drink + croissant in the nearby cafe where perfect breakfast selection and you can buy something else delicious to make your breakfast complete)
What could be improved: Only one thing I can remember- not so fast wi-fi and a bit shivering feeling from tram passing the street, but not annoying.Superb – Maria from Italy – 3 February 2025 (9/10)
Well located, clean, easy, good quality vs price

Great room, lovely host, complimentary snacks, water, orange juice every day in the room. Also coffee, cake and fruit in the kitchen. The rooms have a good size, very clean and comfy. They get cleaned every day. Great heating/AC. Right in Trastevere, my favorite part of Bella Roma with restaurants, bars and a lovely atmosphere.
What could be improved: Nothing
