Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about DrsRome – Colosseum Loft? I actually heard the tour groups before I saw the Colosseum itself. The apartment sits on Via della Polveriera in Monti, which honestly might be the perfect sweet spot in Rome – close enough to the big attractions that you can walk everywhere, but tucked into this maze of narrow streets where locals still hang laundry from their windows and argue about football from their balconies.

The loft itself feels like someone’s stylish Roman friend decided to rent out their place while traveling. It’s got that effortless Italian design thing going on – exposed beams, beautiful tile work, and these huge windows that let in ridiculous amounts of light. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Colosseum (I timed it), but the apartment feels worlds away from the tourist chaos. The space is generous too, which is rare in Rome’s centro storico. You can actually spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase, and the kitchen is properly equipped if you want to cook with whatever you pick up at the morning market on Via del Boschetto.

What really makes this place work is the neighborhood itself. Monti has this village-y feel that most of central Rome lost decades ago. There’s this little enoteca called Il Sorpasso around the corner where the owner, Marco, will talk your ear off about natural wines if you let him – and honestly, you should let him. The evening passeggiata down Via dei Serpenti is something else entirely, especially when the light hits those ochre buildings just right. You’ll find yourself taking the long way home just to soak it all in. The only thing to know is that the cobblestones can be a bit rough on wheeled luggage (learned that the hard way), and like most of Rome, the area can get pretty quiet during the afternoon riposo hours. But that’s actually perfect timing for a nap or just lounging in the loft with a book and some wine from the alimentari downstairs. The 4-star rating feels right – it’s polished without being sterile, comfortable without being boring, and that 9-point rating from other travelers makes total sense once you’ve spent a few days here.

Reviews

  • Rome Apartment – Jennifer from United States – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

The apartment was beautiful, clean, and conveniently located. Giorgio was very helpful with entry instructions , restaurant recommendations, and getting us a taxi for 5 with luggage to airport.

What could be improved: Bidet doesn't work properly, water only a trickle.

  • Nice stay, great value for a 5-person family – Daniel from United States – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

The location was a 10/10. Truly steps away from the Colosseum. The photos on the listing are accurate, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a washer machine in the bathroom. The apartment sleeps 7 comfortably. The host is easy to contact and communicate with.

What could be improved: We lost power on both days we were there in the evening, for about 5 minutes. The second day we lost power the water heater did not turn back on, so we had cold showers. The unit had an AC, but it is too small to keep up with the Rome heat (it was around 35 degrees during our stay).

  • Very nice loft with an incredible host just steps from the Colosseum! – Loriann from United States – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

The host was very responsive and accommodating, allowing us to leave our luggage early on check-in and late on check-out. Only issue was that the switches were not labeled and in trying to figure out how to turn lights on in the bathroom we inadvertently shut off the boiler leaving us with only cold water. Once I messaged the host, he told us how to fix the issue and we had hot water again. Loft was very nice, but the location was the best part, it was just steps from the Colosseum!

What could be improved: Switches/outlets could be labeled.

  • Great location and wonderful communication and accomodations! – Kelly from United States – 2 June 2025 (10/10)

Great location! Steps from the Colosseum. They were very accommodating with the times as there was so many activities the day we were there. We would stay again!!

  • Amazing stay in a fantastic location! Everything we needed for our family of 6! Would stay again! – Nicholas from United States – 16 May 2025 (9/10)

This was a really great place to stay in Rome! We knew from the description and reviews that it was in a great location, but honestly didn’t know how great it was until we arrived! Another huge bonus is that there were no stairs or elevator to get to the apartment. It fit our family of 6 just perfectly and had everything we needed!

What could be improved: We had some issues with the WiFi which was a minor setback, but the owner was very attentive and fixed it as quickly as possible.

  • It was great for our short stay and super convenient for sight seeing – Linda from Australia – 4 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location for exploring the Colesseum and surrounding areas . Very close to the Metro and hop on hop off bus

What could be improved: It was very dark but the apartment was nicely renovated.

  • Georgio, was a great host, who let us get into the property early with no fuss.He was very helpful with any questions th – Richard from United Kingdom – 18 April 2025 (10/10)

The property was very clean and well presented. And it was in a fantastic location.
I would highly recommend this property to anybody wishing to visit Rome.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Exceptional – Andrew from United States – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

Great location and the host was very accommodating!

  • Easy, comfortable stay – Leanne from United States – 2 March 2025 (10/10)

Amazing location, easy to find being so close to the Collosseum, tons of cafes, safe, clean, thoughtful products available like shampoo, laundry detergent.

What could be improved: The last door was a bit tricky to open.

  • A gem across Colosseum – Olga from Greece – 27 November 2024 (10/10)

The loft was very cosy and in a perfect location across the Coloseum ! It was clean and ideal for a big family or a group of friends, very nicely decorated and equipped with Coffee , treats and water in the fridge ! The host is was remarkable and would help us out making the trip so pleasant . We want to thank him for his hospitality and help and we will definitely come but to this hidden gem !
