Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Rome, but The Great Court genuinely surprised me – and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. It’s tucked away on Via Ulpiano in the Prati district, which is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. You know what I mean? You’re close enough to walk to the Vatican (seriously, it’s like a 10-minute stroll), but you’re not drowning in tour groups every time you step outside.
The building itself is classic Roman – one of those elegant palazzos where you climb to the second floor and suddenly you’re in this beautifully renovated space that feels way more spacious than you’d expect. The “Great Court” name makes sense when you see it; there’s this lovely internal courtyard that keeps things surprisingly quiet, even though you’re right in the city. I actually slept better here than at some countryside places I’ve been to. The rooms have that perfect balance of modern comfort without trying too hard to be trendy – you’ve got everything you need, including air conditioning that actually works (trust me, this matters in July), and the bathrooms are genuinely well-designed, not just pretty.
But here’s what really sets this place apart: the location knowledge. The staff pointed me toward this little alimentari around the corner where locals actually shop, and there’s a morning market on Via Cola di Rienzo that most tourists walk right past. You’re also perfectly positioned for both the Vatican and the historic center – I mean, you can walk to Castel Sant’Angelo in about 15 minutes, or hop on the metro at Lepanto station if you want to get to the Spanish Steps or Colosseum area. The Prati neighborhood itself is wonderful for evening walks; it’s got that authentic Roman residential vibe with tree-lined streets and actual Romans going about their daily business. There’s even decent parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in Rome (though honestly, you don’t need to from here). What impressed me most was how they’ve managed to create this sense of being in a real Roman home while still giving you all the hotel services you want. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to coming back at the end of the day, rather than just using it as a place to crash.

Very good – Omar from Saudi Arabia – 1 July 2025 (10/10)
Great Location, specious rooms, clean
What could be improved: Need Adding trash cane in every room and more tissues and napkins.Exceptional – Zuzana from Czech Republic – 15 April 2025 (10/10)
Our experience at The Great Court was excellent from the very beginning. Communication with our host, Lea, was smooth and helpful throughout. She reached out via WhatsApp as soon as we landed in Rome and provided clear instructions for picking up the keys, even including a photo of the Bulldog Bar to help us find it easily. The key pickup was simple and stress-free.
The Bulldog Bar, where the keys are collected, also serves breakfast. The staff there were extremely friendly and welcoming. While the complimentary breakfast included just a croissant and coffee, we ordered extra items, and the food was delicious.
Before our arrival, Lea was very responsive to all my questions regarding the payment and made sure everything was perfectly arranged. The day before our departure, she kindly allowed us to leave our luggage in the apartment, as our flight was later in the day. When we returned, the cleaning staff had already started their work (as planned), but everything went smoothly as we had already packed.
The apartment itself was spotless and beautifully furnished with modern, tasteful decor. It had a fresh, welcoming feel, and the beds were very comfortable. There were six of us colleagues traveling to Rome for a business trip, and the space worked perfectly for both relaxation and informal meetings. We especially appreciated being able to connect a laptop to the TV via cable to go over some work, and having Netflix was a nice bonus!
The apartment was well-equipped with everything we needed: towels, an iron, even a toaster and a Nespresso machine in the kitchenette.
Overall, we had a great stay and would absolutely recommend The Great Court to other travelers – both for business and leisure. Lea was a fantastic host, and we were all very happy with our choice.
Exceptional – Grześ from Poland – 13 March 2025 (10/10)
