Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Domus Vintage? The elevator ride to the fifth floor – yeah, it’s a bit of a journey up, but honestly, once those doors open, you’re stepping into something that feels more like a stylish Roman apartment than a typical hotel. The Trionfale neighborhood isn’t where most tourists end up, which is actually perfect if you want to experience Rome without tripping over selfie sticks every five minutes.

The location on Via Angelo Emo is pretty brilliant when you think about it. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Vatican City (I mean, you can practically see St. Peter’s dome from some of the rooms), but you’re tucked away in this residential area where actual Romans live their daily lives. There’s this fantastic little bakery just down the street that opens at 6 AM – the smell of fresh cornetti drifting up is honestly better than any alarm clock. The Metro A line is close enough that you can zip into the historic center whenever you want, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the chaos and inflated prices of central Rome. Parking around here is actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Rome will tell you is basically a miracle.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed that “vintage” concept without making it feel like a museum. The rooms have this warm, lived-in elegance – think rich fabrics and antique touches that actually make sense together, not just thrown together for Instagram. The staff genuinely seems to care about what you’re planning to do, and they’ll steer you toward places locals actually go rather than the obvious tourist traps. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and the vibe was relaxed but professional – they clearly know their business. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which is perfect if you’ve been pounding the pavement all day exploring the city. Sure, you might hear some street noise during the day (it’s Rome, after all), but nothing that’ll keep you awake. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find – like you’re staying with that well-traveled friend who has impeccable taste and knows all the good spots, but doesn’t make a big show of it.

Reviews

  • Lovely in almost all ways – Aikaterini from Greece – 20 May 2025 (8/10)

Spacy and comfortable apartment with good beds.

What could be improved: The hot water situation was not good. We ran out all the time while showering and it was totally inconsistent

  • The apartment met our needs well and provided a quiet respite – Deanna from United States – 6 March 2024 (9/10)

It is a large apartment and easily accommodated our group of 7 people. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was nicely equipped with a nice veranda. The metro was only a five minute walk away. It was helpful having two bathrooms. We made good use of the large dining room table and there was plenty of seating in the living room. The elevators are small, but very helpful for getting luggage up and down the apartment building. There were some excellent bakeries and eating areas. It was only 15-20 minutes walk to the Vatican.

What could be improved: The apartment could benefit from a fresh coat of paint throughout, and a few repairs to some of the chairs. One of the bathroom toilets has a small leak, but still worked fine. It could use a new shower curtain in the bathroom that covers the whole shower opening. The neighbor next door was a bit loud at night, but that is hard to control.

  • Aside from the neighbors, this is a terrific apartment in a very good location near the vatican – Einarisimo from United States – 26 October 2022 (8/10)

It is a great value for a 3 bedroom flat in rome

What could be improved: The neighbors played loud TV into the the morning hours, Paolo tried his best to mitigate but this was a constant.

  • Superb – Nikolaos from Greece – 15 July 2022 (9/10)

Big apartment . It has 2 big beautiful bedrooms ,2 baths , Spacious living room. Well equipped kitchen. Close to Metro station.

What could be improved: The baths (especially the red one ) need some restauration . The corridor needs painting. The hygiene products provided (soap , shampoo etc) are in very small quantity.

  • Very good – Michaela from Australia – 23 June 2025 (8/10)

Paolo was kind and responsive, lots of space for 7 people.

  • It was our two first nights in Europe from Canada. It was good to have room to spread out. – David from Canada – 23 September 2024 (7/10)

Lots of room for our group of seven. The balcony was nice.

What could be improved: Very small and slow elevator. General appearance of the building was not great. Needs an upgrade (paint etc.. )

  • Superb – Jan from Czech Republic – 29 July 2024 (9/10)

Good location close to Vaticane museums. Many shops are close to the appartment. Air condition, very good communication with the owner. 2 bathrooms.

What could be improved: The house and apartment would need some repairs (wall painting). Microwave and kettle are doing big noise. And the heat of Rome but this not relates to the appartment 🙂

  • wonderful – Tatiana from United States – 4 January 2023 (8/10)

it’s very big! great for a big group or family

    What could be improved: –

  • Exceptional – Natalia from Poland – 10 April 2025 (10/10)

Excellent in all aspects. We would go back!

  • Perfezione e buon riposo – Damian from Poland – 11 July 2024 (10/10)

Great, atmospheric place. Very good location – metro a few minutes' walk from the apartment. Everything you need is nearby – shops, restaurants, pharmacy. The biggest asset is Paolo – the host. I have never felt so taken care of. If you need something beyond what Paolo offers, he helps you find it. Paolo is the number 1 host!
