Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Rome, and honestly? The Domus Regola just gets it right in ways that most hotels completely miss. First off, you’re literally tucked away on Via di San Paolo alla Regola – and I mean literally tucked away, because this little street feels like a secret that only locals know about. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from the chaos of Campo de’ Fiori, but somehow you’ve landed in this quiet pocket where actual Romans live their lives.

The apartment itself – well, it’s one of those places where you can tell someone actually thought about how people move through a space. The ceilings are high enough that you don’t feel cramped (you know how some Roman places can feel like gorgeous caves?), and there’s this quality of light that changes throughout the day. I mean, you’re in a building that’s probably older than most countries, but everything works the way it should. The kitchen actually has counter space, which… if you’ve tried to make coffee in most Roman accommodations, you’ll understand why this matters. And the bathroom – look, I’m not usually the person who gets excited about bathrooms, but the shower pressure here is legitimately impressive for this part of the city.

What really sold me though was stepping out in the morning and realizing I could walk to the Pantheon in one direction, Trastevere in another, and hit three different markets without breaking a sweat. There’s this little bakery around the corner on Via dei Cappuccini where the guy behind the counter will actually remember your order after a couple days – that’s the kind of neighborhood you’re in. You’re not in tourist-land, but you’re not stranded either. The 9.9 rating isn’t some fluke – it’s because places like this are incredibly rare. Most luxury spots in Rome either stick you in some sterile modern box or dump you in a “historic” building where historic means the plumbing doesn’t work. This place somehow manages to feel both authentically Roman and genuinely comfortable, which is honestly a minor miracle when you think about it.

Reviews

  • Wow – welcome to Roma – Justin from United States – 16 June 2025 (10/10)

This apartment was located in a perfect spot for first time sight seeing tourists to Rome. Easy walking distance to a lovely coffee shop where we kept coming back everyday. Open air market nearby. All the facilities you could want for a family of four to comfortably get along for a week. Luigi was an amazing host with accessibility and lots of information to share. He made sure to meet us and go over everything.

What could be improved: Not much to complain about. There was some restoration work downstairs and it could be noisy during the day even early morning with machinery, but this was not a problem as we were out seeing this beautiful city.

  • excellent – Marianna from Slovakia – 24 May 2025 (10/10)

Everything was great Luigi was a perfect host 👍

  • Excellent home base for a visit to Rome! – Dawn from United States – 23 May 2025 (10/10)

We were traveling with our adult daughter and this apartment was perfect for our needs. The location was quiet and very central, so it was easy to walk to many sites and restaurants. The bed and sofabed were both really comfortable. There was a great amount of closet space, which allowed all of us to unpack. The kitchen was small but really usable and the dining space was nice. We appreciated the A/C, the extra towels, and the overall cleanliness of the apartment.

The host, Luigi, was incredibly helpful. He met us promptly, gave us a lot of recommendations for restaurants and sites, and helped us set up taxis to get to the airport. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Exceptional – Alison from United Kingdom – 27 April 2025 (10/10)

Great location, fantastic host who gave us plenty of recommendations for local restaurants etc. Would definitely rebook if coming back to Rome. Very quiet at night.

    What could be improved: Nothing

Great accommodation in a fantastic part of town. The host was exceptionally helpful in terms of arrival information and making recommendations for restaurants and transport and activities. Very helpful to have a small kitchen and laundry facilities. Clean and comfortable. Would recommend

  • Exceptional – Jeffrey from United States – 20 April 2025 (10/10)

The property was fabulous. We have never experienced such an exceptional arrival reception as we did with this property. The owner, Luigi, met us at the apartment. He spent a considerable amount of time reviewing everything with us from the best espresso and pizza near by to all the must see attractions and eateries. He goes out of his way to make sure you have nothing but the most exceptional experience in Rome and with his property. Thank you Luigi!! We cannot imagine a better experience!

  • Fantastic few days – staying in a wonderful apartment in Rome! – Steven from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (10/10)

The apartment was fantastic – clean, well equipped and in a great location. Luigi was a perfect host – getting in contact before our stay, and there to give us a friendly greeting and share really helpful insights to make the most of our stay! Thank you so much!

  • Exceptional – Assia from Morocco – 1 April 2025 (10/10)

We had an amazing stay in this apartment in the heart of Rome! The apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Despite being located in the very center of the city, it was incredibly quiet, which we really appreciated. The apartment was very well-equipped. Plenty of towels were provided and three umbrellas were at the entrance of the apartment in case it would rain. The kitchen had everything we needed, and there were enough dishes for our stay. We were also pleasantly surprised by the abundance of coffee capsules and tea, as well as the olive oil and a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and for the first time, the sofa bed was very comfortable as well😍

The host, Luigi, made our experience even better. He followed our flight and called us right after we landed. When we arrived, he greeted us at the entrance with a big smile and warmth. Luigi gave us a detailed map of Rome and shared lots of useful tips on places to visit, the best restaurants, cafes, and gelato spots. Throughout our stay, he kept in touch to check if we needed anything. Luigi is exceptional, and we truly appreciate his hospitality.

We highly recommend this apartment. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Exceptional – Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 13 February 2025 (10/10)

Great location close to many attractions but also very quiet area. Host was exceptional – personally met us at the apartment and gave many recommendations. Apartment had plenty of space for family of 4 and had everything we needed.
