Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Rome, but Daplace – Palazzina Cosima caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Via di San Cosimato in Trastevere – you know, that narrow street that feels more like a local secret than a tourist thoroughfare. The building itself has this understated elegance that’s honestly refreshing after seeing so many over-the-top Roman hotels trying too hard to impress.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to feel both intimate and polished. The rooms have this perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort – thick walls that actually keep the street noise out (which, trust me, is crucial in Trastevere), but with contemporary touches that make you feel like you’re in 2024, not 1624. The staff genuinely seems to know their stuff about the neighborhood, and I mean the real inside knowledge, not just the usual tourist script. When I mentioned wanting good cacio e pepe, they pointed me toward a place three blocks away that doesn’t even have a sign out front – turned out to be incredible.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. You’re a five-minute walk from Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere, where you can grab morning coffee and watch the city wake up, but you’re also close enough to cross the river and hit the major sites without feeling like you’re stuck in tourist central. I actually found myself coming back to the hotel during the day just to recharge – the common areas have this calm, lived-in feel that makes you want to linger. And here’s something I appreciated: they don’t blast you with tourist brochures at check-in. Instead, they’ll actually ask what you’re interested in and give you real recommendations based on that. The whole experience feels more like staying with a well-connected local friend than at a hotel, which explains that 9.3 rating – it’s not just about thread count and marble bathrooms (though those are nice too), it’s about creating something that feels genuinely special in a city where authentic experiences are getting harder to find.

  The apartment was superclean, spacious and neat! But the absolute hidden gem was the huge roofterrace! Sadly we only stayed for one night, but if we find ourselves in Rome next time, I will definitely book again and use the roof terrace to the fullest! The neighbourhood it's in was really nice, and buzzing at night. A lot of places with good food and good prices!
  
  What could be improved: We had a bit of a situation with paying the city tax, the website they used didn't give any confirmation of payment and sometimes gave errors. At first they insisted on us paying it first before they would send us the code to the lockbox, but after some discussion they decided to let us in first. The next day we handled the tourist tax situation with the lady (still didn't work, had to transfer through paypal so the lady could pay for us). So they need to have multiple ways of paying this extra tourist tax or maybe give an option for us to put it cash on the table when checking out. Besides that the stay wasvery nice!

  Very large, comfortable and clean apartment! Very good location! There were seven of us, and we were all comfortable and convenient – two bathrooms, a large table in the dining room, a well-equipped kitchen. The fact that we were on the top floor had a plus and a minus: the upper bedroom could not be used, because it was very hot and there is no air conditioning, but on the other hand we had a huge terrace just for us which had two tables, a hammock and a barbecue!

  Everything about Daplace was fantastic. We absolutely loved the location, cleanliness and arrangement of the apartment. We had 6 adults. Each couple was able to have private sleeping spaces with one couple staying on the pullout sofa. The living room with the pull out has a door to close off from the rest of the apartment for privacy. Communication and attentiveness from the staff was above and beyond. Water pressure was great, water temperature was hot for all 6 adults showering. Air conditioning worked excellent. Has a washing machine in the kitchen and there is a laundromat around the corner if you need to dry your clothes. We were able to walk to all Rome attractions in our 3 night stay. Night life was vibrant! Once the windows were shut it was so peaceful and quiet for quality sleep! Thank you for a wonderful stay in Rome!
  
  What could be improved: The only amenity that would be nice here is a drying rack for washed clothes as there is no where to hang clothes outside.

  The location of the house is very central. They were very helpful at every stage, provided detailed information, and assisted in organizing the airport transfer.
  
  The house has kitchen utensils, a hairdryer, an espresso machine, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. We used everything except the washing machine and had no issues at all.
  
  There are many good restaurants and bars around the house. It’s a lively neighborhood at night, and we walked everywhere except for the Vatican. There are also great concept stores and non-chain clothing shops with good designs for shopping.
  
  We stayed as two families, six people in total, and it was comfortable.
