Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about finding a great place in Rome? Sometimes the best spots are tucked away on streets you’d never think to look. That’s exactly what happened when I stumbled across Daplace – La Mongolfiera on Via Di Tor Millina. I mean, I’d walked past this narrow street dozens of times heading to Piazza Navona, but never really noticed it until I was actually staying there. The building itself has that worn Roman elegance thing going on – you know, the kind where the stone looks like it’s been weathered by centuries of tourists and locals alike, but somehow that just makes it more authentic.
What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being literally a two-minute walk from all the Navona chaos. You step out the door and within minutes you’re dodging street artists and gelato vendors, but back in your room? Actually peaceful. The rooms have this interesting mix – they’ve clearly been updated (thank god for modern plumbing in Rome, honestly), but they kept some of the original character. The ceilings are higher than you’d expect, and there’s something about the way the light hits the walls in the afternoon that just works. I stayed in October, which turned out to be perfect timing – warm enough that you could leave the windows open, but past that brutal summer heat that makes Rome feel like a pizza oven.
Here’s the thing about the location that the typical hotel descriptions won’t tell you: Via Di Tor Millina connects you to everything without making you feel like you’re camping in Times Square. Sant’Eustachio (the coffee place, not just the church) is basically around the corner, and if you’re into that whole “authentic Roman morning” experience, watching the locals grab their espresso there while tourists are still figuring out breakfast is pretty great. The walk to the Pantheon takes maybe five minutes if you’re not stopping to gawk at every fountain – which, let’s be honest, you probably will be. And Campo de’ Fiori market is close enough that you can actually pop over for fresh fruit or whatever without it being a whole expedition. The staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood too, not just the standard tourist recommendations. When I asked about avoiding crowds at the Pantheon, the guy at the desk suggested specific times that actually worked, not just “go early” like everyone says. The whole experience felt less like staying at a hotel and more like borrowing a friend’s place – if that friend happened to live in one of the most ridiculously beautiful neighborhoods in Rome.

Reviews
Superb – Wadma from Malta – 2 July 2025 (9/10)
Nice and clean
What could be improved: Good locationExceptional – Mery from Argentina – 16 June 2025 (10/10)
The room was what I was expecting as well as the building. There location is the best, a few steps away from Piazza Navona. Is very easy to get to the hotel thanks to its location. Even I arrived late and the check in instructions were sent to me accordingly. I was able to get at 2AM to my room.
What could be improved: I asked for assistance with taking my luggage out of the building during check-out, but no one helped. The receptionist was also late—check-in was scheduled for 10:00 AM, but she didn’t arrive at the desk until 11:30 AM, an hour and a half later. Because of this delay, both I and other guests had to wait unnecessarily, losing valuable time.
These kinds of issues negatively impact the overall experience. As a guest, I don’t believe it’s asking too much to receive a bit of help with luggage—especially considering there are a few stairs before reaching the elevator, and my bags were quite heavy. With just a little assistance, the receptionist and I could have easily managed it together.Great location and good value. – Aaron from United States – 8 June 2025 (9/10)
Our stay was great. Our host Marzia, went out of her way to accommodate us by storing our luggage as we had a very early arrival. The location was exceptional and food options were plenty. Very accommodating and attentive, which had everything to do with Marzia. The room was very spacious and perfect for families with one or two children.
What could be improved: Everything was fine.Exceptional – Anne from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (10/10)
Very accommodating staff who allowed us to checkin early and to store our luggage on the day of departure. This property is in a great location for all tourist attractions and is a nice compromise between an apartment and a hotel.
What could be improved: If you find stairs difficult the lift is quite small.Nice accomodations in a vibrant neighborhood – Jl from United States – 14 May 2025 (8/10)
This is beautiful little hotes in a vibrant neighborhood. It appears that the building is a mix of apartments and hotel rooms. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Their currated list of restaurants was really helpful. The neighborhood is close to all the popular sites.
What could be improved: The neighborghood is very vibrant. Unfortunately there are a couple of bars just outside the door that blast music well past midnight. The thin windows don't buffer the sound and ear plugs are not enough to block the thumping base. Bring earbuds and some white noise if you want to sleep. Also, the shower is tiny and the door does not prevent water from escaping onto the floor.Very good – Yarden from Israel – 21 April 2025 (8/10)
Perfect location, very clean, comfortable bed and the fact that there's an elevator is a bonus since it's Rome.
What could be improved: There's a very very loud bar downstairs and on the weekend it plays super loud music so it's difficult to sleep.Superb – Prodromia from Cyprus – 11 April 2025 (9/10)
The apartment was so pretty, I wasn't expecting it to be that good. It was spacious enough and tidy, the housekeepers kept the apartment clean and they brought us fresh clean towels every day. I will visit again!!
What could be improved: its a bit noisy at night because it has central location with bars and restaurant in the area, but other than that everything was perfect.Good stay – Sinead from Ireland – 10 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location, very nice and clean room, easy check in and out process. Only bad thing very noisy at night time.
– a light sleeper could have issues falling/staying asleep because of quite a lot of noise from the street BUT we we – Veronika from Czech Republic – 30 March 2025 (10/10)
– perfect location, literally couldn’t be any better, half way between Vatican and Colosseum, super close everywhere, great street food all around
– nice, clean, spacious room
– nice views
– felt very safe (in the building and also coming back to the accommodation in the evening/at night)
– good communication with personnel
– possible to leave luggage
– amazing stayLocation superb accessible to all landmarks restaurants. Everything in minutes with the help of the location just outsid – Ben from Ireland – 19 March 2025 (10/10)
Perfect sized room for week holiday
Lovely bed even though it was two single beds put together
The lift helped tiredness after night of walking
