Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Daplace” I thought it was a typo, but this little apartment hotel in Monti actually gets the name right. It’s tucked away on Via de’ Ciancaleoni, which sounds intimidating but is actually this quiet cobblestone street that most tourists completely miss. You know what I mean? One of those addresses where you walk past twice before realizing you’re already there.

The thing about staying in Monti is that you’re basically living like a Roman for a few days, and Daplace gets that. The Iris Apartment feels more like crashing at a friend’s place than checking into some sterile hotel – there’s actual character here, worn wooden floors that creak just right and windows that open onto the kind of street scene you came to Rome to see. Honestly, the 3-star rating doesn’t tell the whole story because the location does half the work for you. I mean, you’re a ten-minute walk from the Colosseum (seriously, I timed it), but more importantly, you’re surrounded by the kind of neighborhood bars and family-run restaurants that don’t have English menus. That little place around the corner on Via del Boschetto? They make carbonara that’ll ruin every other version for you.

What really sold me was how quiet it gets at night – and I was there in July when Rome is basically one giant outdoor party. The street’s residential enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, but you’re still close enough to walk to Trastevere or the centro storico when you want some action. The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – clean, functional, with that slightly mismatched furniture situation that somehow works in Rome. The shower has decent pressure (thank god), and there’s actually space to unpack, which you don’t always get in this city. Check-in was refreshingly simple too, none of that awkward hovering-around-the-lobby thing while they figure out your reservation. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you factor in that you’re getting authentic Roman neighborhood life without sacrificing the basics you actually need as a traveler.

  Amazing location, air conditioning in all 3 bedrooms and living room worked great, kitchen with big windows. Short walk to Rialto bridge, restaurants, and sight seeing. There’s a coffee shop right under the apartment which was perfect for morning coffee and croissants.
  
  What could be improved: Stairs up to the apartment were super steep but still manageable. We loved everything about the apartment.

  We were sent codes for lockbox through the host, who was on whatsup if there was any problems, we were able to drop our bags of early in apartment. location was in walking distance to all main attractions, or bus stop to vatican, (we walked), for our visit it was perfect, breakfast in the morning, well equiped kitchen, then we were out all day till late, showers were hot, the apartment was heated, so when we came back late the apt was warm, and the beds were very comfortable and there was no street noise, so we had a good nights sleep to recharge ready to explore the next day.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment was below street level so not very much natural light, couldnt lock door from the inside with key.

  What could be improved: Purtroppo le tende oscuranti non c’erano, questo ha causato disagio a tutti i componenti del gruppo, essendo presente una porta finestra alta 3,5 metri. La serratura mal funzionante della porta d’entrata non permetteva d’essere chiusa. Mancanza di canovaccio per poter asciugare bicchieri( abbiamo usato un asciugamano) scolapiatti.
