You know what struck me first about this Vatican apartment? The address – 193 Viale Giulio Cesare – puts you right in the heart of Prati, which honestly feels like discovering Rome’s best-kept secret. I mean, tourists are all cramming into Trastevere and the historic center, but locals actually live and work in this neighborhood. You’ll walk past real Romans grabbing their morning cornetto instead of dodging selfie sticks every five steps.

The apartment itself is solid – nothing fancy, but everything you actually need. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow you away with marble bathrooms or fancy lobby art, but the place is clean, the wifi works (crucial for those “I’m in Rome!” Instagram posts), and the building has that authentic Italian residential feel. You’re sharing elevator space with actual Roman families, which I found way more charming than some sterile hotel experience. The 7.9 rating makes sense too – it’s good, reliably good, just not spectacular. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want, especially when you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring anyway.

Here’s the thing about this location that most people don’t realize until they’re here – you’re literally a 10-minute walk to St. Peter’s, but you’re also surrounded by real neighborhood life. Via Cola di Rienzo is right there for shopping (and I mean actual shopping, not just tourist trinkets), and the Ottaviano metro stop connects you to the rest of Rome in minutes. What I really loved was coming back in the evenings when the neighborhood settles into that perfect Roman rhythm – families out for their evening stroll, locals at the wine bars, that golden hour light hitting the tree-lined streets. It’s peaceful in a way that the city center just… isn’t. You’ll actually sleep here, which after a day of Vatican Museums and Colosseum crowds, trust me, matters more than you think. The only thing I’d mention is that like most Roman residential buildings, don’t expect luxury touches – it’s more about the experience of actually living in Rome for a few days rather than just visiting it.

  The property was perfectly located next to the station and 10 min walk to the Vatican.
  
  What could be improved: The sink in first bathroom was slow to drain but when we lifted the plug, the covered previous bidet drain leaked out and we had to clean up disgusting liquid. The living room smells of cigarettes

  Голям апартамент, хубава локация, добре обурдван, метростанцията е на 50 метра. Отдолу има магазини, кафета.

  Großes, geräumiges Apartment in zentraler Lage, nur 10 min zum Vatikan. 4 Schlafzimmer mit Doppelbetten und einem Einzelbett. Die Wohnstube ist trotz Doppelbett groß genug für alle zum beisammen sitzen.
  
  What could be improved: Fussboden sah zwar sauber aus, aber die weißen Strümpfe waren beim barfuß laufen schnell dreckig. Badezimmer/Dusche Renovierungsbedürftig. Aufgrund der minimalen Ausstattung schallt es sehr.
