Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a guesthouse tucked away on Via Cola Di Rienzo, but this place completely surprised me. The Cola Di Rienzo Suite Guest House sits right in the heart of Prati – you know, that slightly more sophisticated Roman neighborhood where locals actually live and work, not just the touristy center everyone flocks to. The building itself has that classic Roman elegance, and when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in the city.
What really struck me was how thoughtfully everything’s been set up. The suites – and they actually are proper suites, not just rooms with a fancy name – feel more like staying in a well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel. The kitchenettes are genuinely useful (I mean, you can actually cook a real meal, not just heat up leftovers), and the living areas have enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The décor walks that fine line between modern and classic Roman style – think contemporary furniture with touches of traditional Italian warmth, none of that sterile boutique hotel vibe you get sometimes. I particularly loved the marble details in the bathrooms; they’re clearly not cutting corners here.
The location is what makes this place special, though. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Vatican – I timed it because I’m obsessive like that – but here’s the thing: you’re not dealing with the chaos of crowds right outside your door. Prati has this residential feel where you can grab coffee at a proper local bar (not a tourist trap), pick up groceries at the market on Via Andrea Doria, or just wander the tree-lined streets without dodging selfie sticks every two seconds. The metro stop at Lepanto is close enough that getting to the Colosseum or Spanish Steps is easy, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the noise and commotion. Actually, the whole area gets surprisingly quiet at night – something I definitely wasn’t expecting in Rome.
The staff here clearly knows what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth (they were flexible when my flight got delayed), and they had genuinely helpful recommendations that went beyond the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward this incredible family-run trattoria just a few blocks away that I never would have found otherwise. Small touches like that make a difference when you’re trying to experience a city rather than just tick boxes on a sightseeing list. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and the WiFi actually works well enough for video calls – trust me, that’s not always a given in Rome.
Look, this isn’t the cheapest option in the city, but for what you get – the space, the location, the quality – it feels like solid value. Especially if you’re staying for more than a couple nights or traveling with someone else, having that extra room to breathe makes all the difference. The 8.9 rating isn’t just inflated review scores; this place genuinely delivers on creating a comfortable base for exploring Rome without feeling like you’re camping out in a shoebox.

Reviews
Definitely recommended for solo travellers – Maria from Cyprus – 28 June 2025 (9/10)
Situated in the upscale neighbourhood Prati and specifically in a shopping district, the accommodation offers a plethora of choices both with regards to shopping for all budgets and high-quality restaurants and bars, while at the same time being a calm and safe area with quick access to the Vatican and Castel Sant'Angelo. Roberto, as well as the other staff working there, were very welcoming and accommodating and were willing to help and guide me with questions that I had regarding my stay. I would definitely return on a future trip to Rome 🙂
Superb – Mireille from United States – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Great staff. Right on the Main Street but felt very safe and it was very quiet.
Clean, great location, great sized room – Belle from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (9/10)
Room was lovely and consistently clean over my week long stay. The staff are all lovely and friendly. I felt very safe as a solo traveller here, as there are multiple keys needed to access which adds extra security. Only issue was I couldn’t get the sky to work, and the walls are very thin. So as a light sleeper, I could hear everything. However that’s not a complaint, just something to note :). Overall I had a wonderful stay here and would recommend
Superb – Ágnes from Hungary – 11 March 2025 (9/10)

Had an excellent stay. The neighbourhood was fantastic – very safe and within walking distance to many major sights, which made exploring Rome so convenient. The room was spotless and came with thoughtful touches like complementary coffee and tea. A special thanks to the lovely cleaning lady and receptionist (I regret not getting her name) – she was so kind and attentive.
Great place to stay. – Cassandra from United States – 2 November 2024 (9/10)
The location is wonderful. Roberto was a great host. Everything was very clean and comfortable.
Will recommend to friends and would definitely stay again when in Rome.Fantastic, Great Location, Very Comfortable – Laura from Ireland – 29 October 2024 (8/10)
Fantastic location. 5 minutes walk form the metro. Roberto was very friendly on check in. The room was spotless and very comfortable. We had everything we needed. There were restaurants a short walk away as well as a super market and pharmacy across the road. Would definitely try to stay there if we found ourselves in Rome again. We would highly recommend
What could be improved: We only saw someone on reception once during our stay so when we wanted to arrange for our bags to be left in storage the day we left (which was a service we were offered) we were unable to. I did email the hotel via booking.com to try arrange it as there was nobody at reception but we did not receive a response until we were already gone. It would have been nice to see someone to ask for what we needed but we managed to arrange an alternative at the main train station – Termani.10/10 would recommend – Bianca from Romania – 23 October 2024 (10/10)
It was clean and the location was excellent. The host was very nice and accomodating. Also it was quiet and I had a very good sleep.

Great location! Super comfortable bed and the room had everything I needed! Staff were so helpful and friendly! Will definitely stay here again.
