Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Chic & Town? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it’s this perfect little pocket of modern comfort tucked right into one of Rome’s most storied neighborhoods. I mean, Via dei Due Macelli isn’t exactly a street tourists stumble onto by accident, but that’s honestly part of its charm. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Spanish Steps (though let’s be real, those steps are probably packed with selfie-stickers most of the day), but the hotel sits on this quieter side street where you can actually hear yourself think.
The rooms themselves feel like someone’s stylish Roman apartment – if that someone happened to have really good taste and a decent budget. I’m talking clean lines, quality linens, and those little touches that matter when you’ve been walking on ancient cobblestones all day. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for Rome, where most hotel bathrooms feel like they were designed for very small people. What I really appreciated was how they managed to feel contemporary without completely ignoring where you are – you’re not going to forget you’re in Rome, but you’re also not sleeping in some overwrought “Italian villa” theme park either. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood, too, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward this tiny wine bar around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and honestly, that recommendation alone was worth the stay.
Here’s the thing about the location – and this is something you only figure out after you’ve done Rome a few times – being near Spagna metro means you can actually get around the city without wanting to throw yourself into the Tiber. The area gets busy during peak tourist season (I’m looking at you, cruise ship days), but early mornings and evenings have this lovely, almost residential feel. Plus, you’re walking distance from some genuinely excellent restaurants that haven’t been completely touristified yet. The hotel’s 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid, comfortable, and well-positioned. I’d probably stay here again, especially if I wanted to be central without dealing with the chaos of staying right on top of the major sights. Sometimes you want to be able to retreat to somewhere that feels a bit more like a neighborhood and a bit less like a theme park, you know?

Very good – Paul from United Kingdom – 21 June 2025 (8/10)
Great location. Central for everything.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Room lovely and quiet.
What could be improved: The room was a little dated and quite bizarre having a shower by your bed, but was adequate for our short stay.Very good – Kimberly from United States – 24 May 2025 (8/10)
The staff was great and accommodating. The room was nice.
What could be improved: I was unable to request the bathtub even though it was not assigned to anyone, and there was no access to a microwave; which may be a Rome thing.Very good – Chris from United States – 10 May 2025 (8/10)
Great location in the heart of everything you want to do in Rome. Exceptional, attentive staff. Highly recommend.
What could be improved: The bathroom could have been nicer, but still way above average for a small European hotel.Great location and competitively priced – Shepherd from United Kingdom – 8 April 2025 (8/10)
Great location, close to Trevi Fountain and Barberini Metro station. Just off a main road, so not too noisy. Lots of great communication from hotel made it easy to find. Reception gave us a map and directions to key landmarks when we arrived. Comfortable bed too. The only downside is the walk across the road for breakfast, but we knew this in advance and there were coffee pods + machine in the communal area on each floor (only 6 rooms on our floor, and we didn’t see anyone else). So not really an issue given this is otherwise a quality hotel in a popular, central, location that is reasonably priced compared to others in the same area.
All in all, its a good stay for us. The staff are very nice, the room is always cleaned and we like the breakfast! Its a – Garcia from United Kingdom – 30 March 2025 (9/10)
its at the centre, so its easy to walk around
What could be improved: Maybe, i didnt expect the room to be like that but its nice and comfortable10 out of ten – Steve from United Kingdom – 1 March 2025 (9/10)
Location and the staff were super helpful
Superb – Giorgia from Italy – 23 February 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location, very kind stuff. Our room (The Superior Double Room) was very beautiful and clean, recommended for a couple.
What could be improved: wi-fi didn’t work so well from our roomExcept the minor issues with lack of soundproof of the rooms we would visit again! – Pavlos from Greece – 26 November 2024 (8/10)
The location , the staff and the rooms were cozy and very clean.
What could be improved: The rooms were not soundproof. We could hear every sound from outside our door and also we could hear the next room when they were showering/ draining water from their bath, like they were inside our room. Also the window was buzzing when it was windy outside.Amazing – Emily from United Kingdom – 7 November 2024 (8/10)
The location is outstanding. The staff were amazing. The bed was super comfy.
What could be improved: The room needed a lick of paint, few marks on the wall but nothing that impacted our stay.Very good – Manuel from United States – 19 September 2024 (8/10)
Centralize location to Trevi Fountain, Spanish step, shopping, train station and tours around Rome
What could be improved: Very hot during the month of August
