Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Roman hotels, and Charme & Chic actually lives up to its name – which honestly surprised me a bit when I first saw it. The location on Via del Leoncino is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the heart of things without dealing with the tourist chaos of, say, the streets right around the Pantheon. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon (I timed it), but you’re on this quiet little side street that most people just walk past without noticing.

The building itself has that classic Roman charm – you know, the kind where you walk through an unassuming door and suddenly you’re in this beautiful courtyard situation. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” rather than just thrown together with expensive furniture. They’ve got this modern-meets-classic thing going on that doesn’t feel forced, and honestly, the beds are fantastic. I’m pretty picky about mattresses, and I slept better here than I have in some five-star places. The bathrooms are compact but smart – they’ve used every inch well, and the shower pressure is actually decent (which, if you’ve traveled in Europe, you know is not always a given). One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right in the centro storico. The windows do a good job of keeping out the scooter symphony that usually starts around 6 AM.

What really sets this place apart is the staff – they’re genuinely helpful without being hovering or fake-friendly. The woman at the front desk (I think her name was Giulia?) gave me better restaurant recommendations than most guidebooks, including this little trattoria around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. She also sorted out a taxi situation for me when I was running late for a dinner reservation, which was above and beyond. The whole vibe feels more like a well-run boutique hotel than a corporate chain, which makes sense given it’s family-owned. They serve breakfast in this cozy little room that gets great morning light, and while it’s not a huge spread, everything’s fresh and there’s proper coffee – not that watery stuff you sometimes get. I mean, you’re in Rome, so you’ll probably want to grab your cappuccino at a proper bar anyway, but it’s nice to have the option. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Rome, but it nails what it’s going for. If you want to be walking distance from the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and all the major sites, but still feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality rather than just another tourist hotel, this is your spot.

  Great Location in walking distance to major attractions, restaurants, supermarkets, cafes and shopping. Beautiful interior. There’s an elevator and all codes worked. Communication was perfect and all information was there on time. Highly recommended!
