Cassiodoro19 Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Cassiodoro19 on a quiet side street in Prati, you’d honestly never guess what you’re about to find inside. The entrance is understated — almost secretive — which I actually love because it means you’ve stumbled onto something locals know about. This four-star boutique property sits in one of those perfectly Roman buildings where the facade tells stories, and once you step through the doors, you realize you’ve found something special in the heart of Rome.

The Prati Advantage

Here’s what I mean about location — Prati is where Romans actually live and work, not just where tourists flock. You’re literally a five-minute walk to Vatican City (I timed it), but you’re also surrounded by authentic trattorias, morning markets, and that everyday Roman rhythm that makes you feel like you belong. The couples who stay here get it — there’s something romantic about being in the real Rome while still having world-famous sights at your doorstep. Via Cassiodoro itself is this lovely tree-lined street where you can actually hear yourself think, which is rare in a city this vibrant.

The Room Experience

My room had this perfect blend of contemporary comfort and Italian style — clean lines but warm touches that felt genuinely welcoming rather than sterile. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have those little details that show someone cares about the guest experience. What struck me most was how quiet everything was at night, despite being so central. You get proper blackout curtains and air conditioning that actually works, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in Rome.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here feel effortless — you can grab excellent coffee at the corner bar like a local, or the staff can point you toward the best cornetto in the neighborhood (trust them on this). The Ottaviano metro stop is close enough that you can easily reach the Colosseum or Spanish Steps, but far enough that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you leave the hotel. I found myself coming back in the afternoons just to recharge, which says something about how comfortable the space feels.

Why Guests Love It

What makes Cassiodoro19 work is that balance between accessibility and authenticity. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or over-the-top amenities — you’re paying for a genuinely well-run place in an unbeatable location. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, so they can send you to that perfect little restaurant around the corner or help you avoid the tourist traps near the Vatican. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Rome the way it’s meant to be experienced, with all the convenience but none of the chaos.

Hotels near me in Rome deliver quick strolls to Colosseum tours, gelato shops, and hidden courtyards.

The property was clean and perfect for our last 2 nights in Rome! Francesco was a great host, he recommended places to eat and the Best gelato place! My birthday happened to be the day we checked in and he gave us a bottle of champagne! He was really the best, the place was a little bit of heaven! The Vatican was a short walk. We loved it and would stay there again if we venture back to Rome! Thank you so much! Great find!!

The location was good, close to the Vatican and walking distance to the Trevi Fountain.
It was clean and quiet with very friendly staff.

  • James from United Kingdom (9/10)

The location was perfect, nestled in a peaceful residential area of Rome with authentic Italian restaurants nearby. All of the sights of Rome were in walking distance. The host, Stefano was brilliant. He was thoroughly attentive and provided lots of useful advice on how to get around, what to see and where to eat. Stefano even booked us a car to the airport the day before we were due to leave. We would thoroughly recommend and will definitely stay here again when in Rome.

The location is good. The area seems relatively safer and surrounded by good bars and restaurants. The host is full of information about Rome. He showed everything on the map we need to see in Rome. He is like a tourist information point:)

  • Aisling from Luxembourg (8/10)

We stayed in Cassiodoro19 in June 2023 and loved it. The host was very welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations of food and activities to do in Prati and Rome – he spent almost an hour with us – this was very appreciated. The food recommendations he gave us were top notch and I’ve never eaten better carbonara and gelato in my life! The bed was comfortable and the location of the property was not far from all the attractions. An added bonus is that the property is very close to the Vatican City so if you are planning to go there early in the morning you can just walk from the apartment.
