Hotel Description

You know what surprised me about CasaJusta Trastevere? The location is somehow both completely authentic and totally manageable for visitors – which, honestly, is pretty rare in Rome. It’s tucked away on this tiny cobblestone street (Vicolo de Cinque) that feels like a movie set, but you’re actually just a three-minute walk from the heart of Trastevere’s restaurant scene. I mean, you can literally hear the evening buzz from Piazza di Santa Maria when you’re sitting on some of the balconies, but step inside and it’s surprisingly quiet.

The building itself has that worn-in Roman charm – thick stone walls that keep things cool even in August, and the kind of shuttered windows that make you feel like you’re living in the neighborhood rather than just passing through. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. When I asked about avoiding tourist traps for dinner, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic map – he drew a little route to this family-run osteria near Ponte Sisto that I never would have found otherwise. The rooms are comfortable without being fussy (though I’d probably request something facing the courtyard if you’re sensitive to the occasional late-night revelry from the street). The bathroom in my room was one of those renovated-but-respectful situations – modern fixtures but they didn’t strip away all the character.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Trastevere: you’re far enough from the Colosseum crowds to breathe, but close enough to everything that matters. I walked to the Vatican in about 20 minutes, caught the tram to Testaccio for those incredible food markets, and honestly spent most evenings just wandering the neighborhood’s winding streets. The morning routine became grabbing coffee at the bar around the corner (they know how to make it properly strong), then maybe walking along the Tiber before the day got too warm. There’s something about this particular stretch of Trastevere that still feels lived-in – you’ll see actual Romans hanging laundry from their windows and kids playing soccer in the small piazzas. CasaJusta fits into that rhythm nicely; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Rome, but it gets the important stuff right, and after a long day of navigating ancient ruins and crowded basilicas, that’s exactly what you want.

Reviews

  • Had a nice time at the apartment. Fabulous location and great communication with the host. – Meg from New Zealand – 14 October 2023 (8/10)

Fabulous location. The deck was lovely to spend time on. Apartment was comfortable had most things we needed – the host responded very quickly to our queries.

What could be improved: Apartment was a little unclean. The only bathroom was tired and accessible through one of the double bedrooms.

  • Adorable loft in great location ideal for no more than two couples or more than 2 nights – Delilah from United States – 28 September 2023 (8/10)

The location is everything in this adorable Italian flat! Right downstairs is a cute bar (which is also a coffee shop in the morning) and at night it is very lively along the streets with lots of restaurants. There’s also a cute, small balcony.

What could be improved: Beware that this loft is on the top floor so you have to go up at least three flights of stairs, so not ideal for elderly are people with bad knees. The ceilings are very low in two of the bedrooms in multiple guests hit their head within the night or early in the morning, because the roofline is literally a foot above your head. There is AC in two of the bedrooms the rest of the house only has a standalone fans and these air conditionings do not blow very cool air so the entire loft was very warm, in fact, no one slept with blankets or sheets, because it was so hot. Also, one bathroom being shared for a three bedroom loft was difficult, especially since the bathroom is located in one of the bedrooms.

  • Great apartment in trastevere – Shastra from United Kingdom – 14 September 2023 (9/10)

Great location. Terrace was great. Facilities were good. Host was flexible with arrival time. Great place!

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Superb – Goldman from United States – 14 September 2022 (9/10)

Really cool apartment with a lot of character in a great location in Trastavere. Directly above a great Bar with friendly staff, great drinks and good, simple food. You walk out right into the middle of all the life of the neighborhood.

What could be improved: Only complaint we had was that we could not get the WiFi to work, and we had two young digital natives in our party. Recommend that the owner fix and simplify that. Wasn't the end of the world, and the Bar downstairs has WiFi. Just a small inconvenience.

  • perfect location for people wanting to experience rome, very suitable for young people – Cerys from United Kingdom – 23 August 2022 (9/10)

location was great, host was lovely, no major issues

  • Fab stay, great location, well organised owner and apartment. – Rebecca from United Kingdom – 1 May 2024 (8/10)

Location was fantastic, lots of nice places to eat nearby and walking distance to all the sights of Rome. We had everything we needed in the apartment.

What could be improved: One more sofa would be good as a two-seater for an apartment which can sleep 6 is not enough.

  • I had a great time – Ilva from Albania – 31 March 2024 (9/10)

The location is great. The neighborhood has lots of restaurants and shops and the vibe is superb. The hostess was very kind and welcoming. The house is in an old italian building and is pretty authentic.

What could be improved: You have to climb a lot of stairs to go to the apartment as there isn’t an elevator.

  • Great location, but needs a bit more maintenance and love.. – Nicolas from France – 24 February 2024 (7/10)

The location and the atmosphere of the neighborhood, the size of the place and the host !

What could be improved: The apartment needs maintenance, the chairs was broken, the terrace has water dropps on the silly, the main bed was good but the others aren't comfortable …

  • Very good – Guido from Belgium – 24 December 2023 (8/10)

    The location was very nice.

  • Great location; friendly amenable host; I would return. – Paul from United Kingdom – 26 October 2023 (8/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Would benefit from some modernisation (cooking pots, toilet seat, shower head) which show signs of use; and a deep clean.
