Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Casa Frisi? It’s tucked away on the primo piano of this classic Roman building on Via degli Scipioni, and honestly, walking up those stairs feels like you’re being let in on a local secret. The Prati neighborhood is one of those areas that Romans actually live in – you’ll hear more Italian than English on the street, which I mean, isn’t that what you want? It’s about a ten-minute walk to the Vatican, but here’s the thing: you’re far enough away that you won’t get caught up in the tourist chaos every time you step outside. The street itself is lined with those everyday Roman shops – a pharmacy, a small alimentari where the owner will actually remember your face after day two, and this little bar where locals grab their morning cornetto and espresso standing at the counter like proper Romans do.
The place itself has that authentic Roman apartment feel – high ceilings, original details that haven’t been renovated into oblivion, and windows that actually open (trust me, after staying in some of those international chain hotels, you’ll appreciate this). The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple – not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but everything works and feels intentional. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly can be hit or miss in Rome, and the bathrooms have decent water pressure. What really got me was the attention to small details that matter when you’re living somewhere for a few days – proper bedside lighting for reading, enough outlets that aren’t hidden behind furniture, and closet space that can handle more than just a weekend bag. The building stays pretty quiet, even though you’re in the city – those thick Roman walls do their job.
Here’s what makes this spot special though: the location gives you the best of both worlds. You can walk to the Vatican Museums early in the morning before the crowds hit (seriously, get there at opening time), but you’re also a quick metro ride to the centro storico when you want to dive into the Pantheon-Trevi Fountain madness. The Ottaviano metro stop is maybe five minutes away, and there are buses that’ll get you across the river to Trastevere without much fuss. Evening walks along the Tiber are right there, and the neighborhood has some genuinely good restaurants where you won’t feel like you’re paying tourist prices. I found myself grabbing groceries at the Carrefour down the street and actually cooking a few meals – something about staying in a real Roman apartment just makes you want to live like a local for a bit. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience the whole package – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Rome, but it nails what matters: location, comfort, and that feeling like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just passing through.

Great location – no need for car – Marlane from United States – 26 May 2025 (10/10)
great location with plenty of restaurants and shopping . 15 min from Vatican but not in the middle of the fray. a few blocks from the metro. Was well appointed . Relaxing to come back and sit on the little terrace.
Exceptional – Christine from United States – 17 April 2025 (10/10)
The loction was a 10min walk to the Vatican. The neighborhood had a touristy street, but also less touristy areas in the other direction. We made coffee in the apartment and sent an early riser from our group to find morning bakery treats. Metro stop is just a couple of blocks which made this convenient for getting around Roma. The outside deck was very nice to have for drying clothes and hanging out. We did not cook any meals, but the apartment was equipped to do so. The apartment is very nicely renovated with throughout.
lovely apartment in a great area – would recommend for a family stay. – Rosetta from Australia – 8 October 2024 (9/10)
location was great, apartment was cute and homey.
What could be improved: bed in one bedroom was a bit small for 2 people.Perfect Stay – Panayiotis-alan from Greece – 8 July 2024 (10/10)
The House was very big and spacious. Each child had his own bedroom with a double bed.
The outdoor patio was perfect for the warm nights
A/C was excellent as well during the hot period of July in Rome.Excellent apartment, great for families – Jayne from Australia – 30 June 2024 (9/10)
Great location with easy access to transport and lots of shops, restaurants etc and very close to the Vatican. Very, spacious with lovely outdoor terrace and comfortable beds. Washing machine a great added bonus!!
What could be improved: The bathrooms were lovely but only suggestion would be some new showerheads and a shelf in the shower for soap/shampoo etc.Very comfortable accommodation. – Allison from United States – 19 May 2024 (9/10)
The space was very nice for our large family.
What could be improved: The shower in the 2nd bathroom did not drain and we were not able to use that family. I sent a message after the first night but never received a response.Exceptional – Ina from Croatia – 15 May 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was as in the pictures, spacious and modern. Comfortable and large beds were covered with clean linen. The terrace is perfect for morning coffee and breakfast. Best of all is certainly the location, a few minutes' walk to the Lepanto metro and bus station. Vatican is on walking distance.
What could be improved: The shower in the small bathroom is unusable because the drain is not working and creates big flood. It suited our needs, comfy and great location. Liked entry system, no need to carry keys. – Morna from United Kingdom – 14 March 2024 (9/10)
Location, easy access using lock box and code. Comfy and spacious
What could be improved: Good showers but tended to flood floor if not careful. Bathrooms look a little tired but wasn't an issue.Exceptional – Mary from United States – 2 March 2024 (10/10)
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Frisi. My husband and I stayed with our 7 children – it was truly a home away from home. The host was helpful and responsive. I would definitely recommend Casa Frisi. Thank you for having us!
In general had everything we wanted and found out way around easily – Avril from Spain – 14 January 2024 (8/10)
The location was great not too far to walk to the sites. Had everything we needed.
What could be improved: In need of a little repair in places.
Wrote two messages to the owner one through Bookings.Com and the other to their website and never got a reply from either which was disappointing.
