Hotel Description

Nestled in the vibrant San Giovanni district of Rome, the three-star CASA DEI NONNI offers an exceptional stay in the Eternal City. This charming hotel combines traditional Italian hospitality with modern comforts, earning an outstanding 9.7 rating from satisfied guests. Located at 23 Via Albalonga in the historic 00183 postal district, CASA DEI NONNI (meaning “Grandparents’ House” in Italian) provides a warm, familial atmosphere that makes guests feel instantly at home while exploring one of the world’s most magnificent cities.

The hotel’s strategic location in the San Giovanni area places guests in an authentic Roman neighborhood, away from the overwhelming tourist crowds yet conveniently connected to Rome’s treasures. The magnificent Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, one of Rome’s four major papal basilicas, is within walking distance, offering visitors a glimpse into the city’s religious heritage without the lines found at more frequented sites. The area is well-served by public transportation, with metro stations nearby providing quick access to iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Vatican City. Via Albalonga itself is lined with characteristic Roman buildings, local eateries, and charming cafés where guests can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and observe daily Roman life. The hotel’s exceptional 9.7 rating reflects not only its enviable location but also the personalized service that consistently exceeds expectations. Previous guests frequently highlight the genuine care and attention to detail that permeates every aspect of their stay at CASA DEI NONNI, from the thoughtful recommendations for hidden local gems to the meticulous maintenance of the property.

What truly distinguishes CASA DEI NONNI from other accommodations in Rome is its ability to provide an authentic Italian experience while maintaining the high standards expected of a well-rated establishment. Unlike massive hotel chains that can feel impersonal and detached from local culture, this boutique hotel embodies the essence of Roman hospitality. The name itself—CASA DEI NONNI—evokes the comfort and warmth of visiting one’s grandparents, and the staff strives to create this same feeling of belonging for every guest who walks through their doors. The remarkable 9.7 rating speaks volumes about their success in this endeavor, placing it among the most highly-regarded accommodations in a city known for its competitive hospitality industry. Whether you’re visiting Rome for its ancient history, religious significance, world-class art, or incomparable cuisine, CASA DEI NONNI offers not just a place to stay, but a home from which to experience the authentic rhythm and beauty of Roman life. In a city of timeless wonders, this three-star gem in San Giovanni provides the perfect balance of comfort, location, and genuine Italian hospitality that will enhance your Roman holiday and leave you planning your return before you’ve even departed.

Great location – 2 min walking distance from the metro and right next to a bus stop with buses to the city center. Also, several convenience stores, coffeehouses, and tobacco shops nearby.

The apartment is very clean, cozy and well-furnished: washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, and air conditioners in all rooms. The apartment has two beautiful spacious bedrooms.

The host was very kind and hospitable. Left us a welcome gift when we arrived – a tasty cake.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience. Absolutely recommended!

I just love Rome, I come back twice a year for sure. And let me tell you, there is no better place to stay in Rome. Staying in this wonderful apartment brought me back to my childhood, when I spent my summer holidays at my grandmother's house. You don't think about anything, you just enjoy the summer. It was the same on our holiday. Because Leonardo has thought of everything for you. A perfectly clean and spacious apartment filled with light. Everything you need for comfort: from washing machine to dishwasher. Wonderful cosy and safe courtyard. It's close to the metro station. It's definitely my favourite for years to come.

    Grazie mille, Leonardo
