Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Casa Dania? The building itself – it’s this gorgeous early 20th century palazzo that somehow manages to feel both elegant and completely unpretentious. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Vatican (like, three blocks), but the whole Prati neighborhood has this lived-in Roman feel that’s way more relaxed than the tourist chaos around St. Peter’s. The hotel sits right on Piazza Cola di Rienzo, which honestly is one of Rome’s best shopping streets – not the fancy designer stuff, but actual Roman shops where locals go for everything from shoes to gelato. I actually loved watching the morning routine from my window: office workers grabbing espresso, nonne doing their daily shopping, kids heading to school. It felt authentically Roman in a way that’s getting harder to find.
The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully updated” – they kept the original hardwood floors and high ceilings (seriously, those ceilings are like 12 feet), but everything else feels fresh and comfortable. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for Rome, and the beds are actually good – not just European-firm, but properly supportive. What really sold me though was the staff’s approach to service. The front desk guy, Marco, didn’t just hand me a tourist map; he marked his personal recommendations for the best supplì in the neighborhood and told me which metro entrance to use to avoid the crowds at Ottaviano. Little things like that make a difference. The breakfast situation is solid too – not a massive buffet, but quality Italian basics done right, plus they make proper cappuccinos until 11 AM, which might not sound like a big deal until you’ve been to places that serve that awful machine coffee.
Location-wise, this place is actually perfect for seeing Rome without feeling like you’re trapped in a theme park. You’re a five-minute walk to the Vatican Museums (pro tip: the side entrance on Viale Vaticano is way less crowded than the main one), but you’re also close to Castel Sant’Angelo and you can walk to the Spanish Steps in about 15 minutes if you’re feeling ambitious. The Lepanto metro stop is right around the corner, so getting to the Colosseum or Termini is straightforward. But honestly, what I appreciated most was coming back to Prati in the evenings – there’s something calming about leaving the tourist zones and settling into a neighborhood where people actually live. The street can get a bit busy during shopping hours, but by evening it quiets down nicely. Oh, and if you’re driving, forget about it – parking in this area is a nightmare, but the hotel can arrange garage parking about two blocks away for a reasonable fee. Bottom line: Casa Dania gets the balance right between comfort, location, and that elusive sense of actually being in Rome rather than just visiting it.

We arrived early and Dania was there to meet us. She allowed early check in which was much appreciated. She was very kind and helpful. The apartment had everything we needed and was very comfortable for our family. The addition of a washing machine was very helpful. We loved the neighborhood and had everything we needed on our street.

Clean cozy two-bedroom apartment with a balcony in Rome – Mark from United States – 3 May 2025 (10/10)
Excellent communication with the host prior to our arrival and during our stay. We were greeted upon arrival by the host, Pierluigi, who showed us around the apartment. Casa Dania is located on a lively street in Rome, full of cafes, restaurants, and stores. It's walking distance to a bus stop and a metro station, and not a very long walk to some major attractions.
The apartment is in an old building; it was very clean. We found the beds very comfortable with nice and firm mattresses.
The bathtub with jets was a nice perk after a long day of sightseeing.
