Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The fact that it’s tucked away on this impossibly narrow street — Vicolo di San Celso — that honestly looks like it barely fits two people walking side by side, yet somehow you’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Rome’s most spectacular squares. I mean, I’ve stayed in plenty of “near Piazza Navona” places that require a solid ten-minute hike, but this FromHometoRome spot is actually, genuinely close. You step out the door, make a quick right, and boom — you’re watching street artists work their magic around Bernini’s fountains.
The building itself has that authentic Roman feel without being stuffy about it. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully sized (translation: not huge, but cleverly designed so you’re not bumping into furniture). What really impressed me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days — decent water pressure in the shower, blackout curtains that actually work, and thank god, proper air conditioning. The 4-star rating feels honest; it’s not trying to be the Hassler, but it’s definitely a step above your typical tourist trap accommodation. The 8.4 rating makes sense too — I noticed little things like how the staff actually remembers your name after day one, and the WiFi works in every corner of the building.
Here’s what the guidebooks won’t tell you: staying on this particular street puts you in this sweet spot where you can stumble home from dinner at Da Baffetto (the pizza place locals actually go to, about three blocks away) without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist drags. Early mornings are magical here — you can grab coffee at the corner bar where the barista doesn’t speak English but makes an incredible cappuccino, then walk over to Piazza Navona when it’s still quiet and the light hits those baroque facades just right. The Campo de’ Fiori market is maybe a seven-minute walk if you know the shortcuts through the side streets. Fair warning though — this area gets lively at night, especially on weekends, so if you’re a super light sleeper, pack earplugs. But honestly, that energy is part of what makes staying here feel authentic rather than like you’re camping out in a tourist bubble. It’s the kind of place where you actually feel like you’re living in Rome for a few days instead of just passing through.

What could be improved: Spiral staircase and sitting room was off a bedroomGood – Michael from Israel – 10 April 2025 (7/10)
The apartment is located in a beautiful neighborhood very close to the Vatican. It is also very close to Piazza Navonna. The apartment is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped.
What could be improved: The problem is the noise – the restaurants below the apartments are very noisy until very late at night.
Also, the toilet is problematic in the apartment.
Finally, we were supposed to check out at 11:00am. Usually it is possible to leave a few minutes afterwards, but the cleaning personnel arrived 10 minutes before 11 which was very unpleasant.Superb – Christian from United States – 21 July 2024 (9/10)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely air-conditioned flat, centrally located in a lively neighborhood, close to Castel Sant'Angelo, great restaurants, shops, and bakeries. Here, we had a break from the crowds, and relaxed in comfortable beds and plenty of space. Our host was responsive and helpful. We hope to return.
Beautiful older style apartment – Keith from Australia – 22 September 2023 (7/10)
3 bedroom apartment in central Rome. Older style apartment which did have all amenities needed. Close to Piazza Navona and Vatican.
What could be improved: Difficult for a family and to bring luggage up, as there is narrow 3 flights of stairs. This would be common though in older apartments.Exceptional – Arjun from United States – 18 June 2025 (10/10)
The use of YouTube videos and good instructions. One of the codes provided was wrong but the host was very responsive and we didn't have any issues. Excellent location and very comfortable arrangements. Highly recommend if staying in Rome given walking distance to most attractions
What could be improved: Wifi was a little weak but extremely minor point. Everything was greatHighly recommended this property. We loved our stu and would stay again. – Moya from Ireland – 25 March 2025 (10/10)
Original features. Equipped with everything. Blackout shutters.
The perfect Central Rome location! – William from Qatar – 11 July 2023 (10/10)
What a fantastic home! We really enjoyed the perfect location and the accommodations. The location was magical! We were centralized to wonderful restaurants, shops and busses. Nearly everything was within 15-20 minutes walk or less. Air conditioning was spectacular, the sleeping arrangements were on point, and the kitchen and dinning area was perfect for our games and our hanging out.
What could be improved: Nothing
