Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Butterfly Suite Rome? The quiet. I mean, you’re still in Rome – there’s no escaping the beautiful chaos entirely – but Via Carlo Porta feels like this little pocket of calm that somehow exists in the Gianicolense district. It’s honestly one of those spots where you can actually hear yourself think, which is saying something for this city.

The building itself has that understated Roman elegance thing going on, not flashy but solid in a way that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere with history rather than just another hotel. The suites are genuinely spacious too – I’m talking room to actually unpack your suitcase and not live out of it for a week. The design walks this nice line between modern comfort and Italian character; you’ve got your marble touches and warm wood, but also proper lighting and outlets where you actually need them (thank god, because we’ve all stayed in those “charming” places where you can’t plug in your phone anywhere useful).

What I really appreciate is how the staff seems to get that travelers want local insights without being pushy about it. They’ll tell you about the morning market on Via di San Cosimato – which is actually a bit of a trek but worth it for the produce and the whole neighborhood feel – or point you toward Porta Portese for the Sunday flea market madness. The area itself is sort of perfectly positioned; you’re close enough to Trastevere to walk there for dinner (maybe 15 minutes of pleasant wandering), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your door. Plus, honestly, the Gianicolense area has some hidden gems – little family-run trattorias where you might be the only non-Italian at dinner, which is exactly what you want.

The practical stuff matters too: parking is actually manageable around there, unlike central Rome where it’s basically a blood sport. The rooms are properly soundproofed, so even when there’s street activity, you can sleep. Check-in was smooth, none of that “your room isn’t ready until 4 PM sharp” nonsense. And look, a 9.2 rating doesn’t happen by accident – there’s attention to detail here, from the way they handle your luggage to remembering your coffee preferences at breakfast. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Rome trip before you’ve even checked out.

Very good location. We moved around the city on foot with the children and they managed. The owner of the property was very nice.

  • Jaanus from Estonia (10/10)

    Hey!
It was very pleasant, the apartment owner was waiting for us in front of the house when we arrived from the evening flight. The owner of the apartment was very friendly and kind. The owner had everything necessary for life in the apartment, very good wifi, the plan of Rome was beautifully laid out, where very good restaurants and the best sights are located, how to go somewhere is better. My family and I are very satisfied with the apartment, in booging they showed the apartment plan very well, where a certain room is located, very clean and modern, we definitely recommend it to a circle of friends and family with children. The shops were nearby, the sights were easily accessible on foot, by public transport and by taxi. Here is our visit, Rome: Colosseum VIP Arena, Roman Forum, & Palatine Hill Tour
