You know what struck me first about Borsieri Apartments? The elevator – I mean, it’s one of those tiny Roman lifts that barely fits two people and their luggage, but somehow that immediately made the place feel authentically local rather than touristy. The building itself sits in Prati, which honestly is where I’d want to stay if I were doing Rome again. It’s this residential neighborhood just across the Tiber from the Vatican, and you get that real Roman vibe without the chaos of the centro storico.

The apartments themselves are actually proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge slapped in the corner. I’m talking full kitchens where you can make real coffee (thank god, because Italian hotel coffee can be hit or miss), decent-sized living areas, and – this matters more than you’d think – proper curtains that actually block out the morning light. The whole 101Flats setup is pretty clever; they’ve got this professional management thing down but without the sterile hotel feel. Check-in was smooth, though I did have to coordinate timing since there’s not always someone at a front desk. The WiFi actually works well, which isn’t always a given in these older Roman buildings.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk to St. Peter’s, but more importantly, you’re right in the middle of where Romans actually live and eat. There’s this little market on Via Cola di Rienzo where you can grab fresh stuff for breakfast – way better than paying hotel prices. The metro’s close enough (Lepanto station), and honestly, the neighborhood feels safe to walk around at night, which isn’t something I’d say about every part of Rome. The streets are wider here than in the old center, so it doesn’t feel claustrophobic, and parking is actually possible if you’re brave enough to drive in Rome. I heard from other guests that the place fills up during Easter and summer, so book ahead for those times. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want: comfortable, well-located, and run by people who seem to actually care about the details that matter.

  The apartment is located near the Vatican and Mini Markets and is very accessible by metro or by bus. Stayed only for a day but everything was perfect!.
