Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Rome hotels, and BoRooms honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. The name’s a bit quirky – I mean, it sounds like someone was trying too hard to be clever – but the place itself is actually fantastic. It’s tucked away on Borgo Pio, which is this narrow cobblestone street that feels like you’ve stumbled into a secret part of the city. You know what I love about this location? You’re literally a five-minute walk from St. Peter’s, but somehow you’ve escaped all the tourist chaos that usually comes with being that close to the Vatican.
The building itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciate – it’s not trying to scream “luxury hotel” at you, but everything feels thoughtfully done. The lobby smells like expensive Italian leather mixed with fresh flowers, and honestly, that’s when I knew they were doing something right. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (no standing around for twenty minutes while they figure out their system), and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. I asked about good morning coffee, and they sent me to this tiny place around the corner on Via del Mascherino where locals actually go – turned into my daily ritual.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but with some nice touches that show they’re paying attention. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have that heated tile floor situation that’s perfect after walking around Rome all day. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night – Borgo Pio doesn’t get the late-night crowds that some of the main tourist streets do, so you can actually sleep with the windows open if you want. The area gets busy during the day with people heading to the Vatican, but by evening it settles into this peaceful residential vibe where you’ll see neighbors chatting on their stoops and kids playing in the small piazzas.
I’ll be honest – parking can be a bit of a headache if you’re driving (well, parking anywhere in Rome is a headache), but the metro connections are solid, and you can walk to most of the major sites without feeling like you’re on a death march. The Ottaviano stop is maybe ten minutes away, which gets you anywhere you need to go. There’s also something to be said for staying in Prati instead of the historic center – you get a better feel for how Romans actually live, plus the restaurants around here cater more to locals than tourists, which means better food and better prices. That 8.8 rating makes sense to me; it’s the kind of place that does all the important stuff really well without any unnecessary drama.

we loved the room, especially the location. there was cleaning daily which we appreciate. also, since we had a late flight we were allowed to leave our bags safely after check-out and pick them up just before leaving for the airport.
What could be improved: could be improved by having a mini-fridge and a kettle in the room. such facilities were available in the common kitchen area but not in our room.worth the value – Talal from Saudi Arabia – 25 November 2024 (8/10)

The room was incredibly atmospheric and immaculately clean. The neighborhood was safe and full of fantastic restaurants. The location is perfect, being very close to the Vatican. The property owner was very accommodating, always ready to assist with any requests. A special mention goes to the cleaning lady, who was incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring every detail of our comfort was attended to. The BoRooms was in a brilliant location on the first floor above a beautiful pedestrianised street. The room and bathroom was a really good size and had access to a shared kitchen/ dining area and included complimentary coffee etc. ( great espressos) We loved our time there and found it a sanctuary after a busy day in Rome. The staff were really helpful and made our stay.
