Borgo Pio Charme Overview

You know what struck me first about Borgo Pio Charme? The street itself – I mean, you’re literally on one of those cobblestone Roman streets that feels like a movie set, but it’s actually where locals still live and work. The hotel sits right in this medieval borgo that most tourists rush past on their way to St. Peter’s, which is honestly their loss because you’re getting the real Rome experience here.

The building has this understated elegance that I really appreciated – it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, just genuinely charming in that effortless Italian way. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” rather than cookie-cutter luxury. Mine had these beautiful old wooden shutters that actually worked (you’d be surprised how rare that is), and the bathroom had proper water pressure, which… well, if you’ve stayed in historic Roman buildings before, you know that’s not always a given. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure you had what you needed, not just checking boxes. When I mentioned I was hoping to catch the early morning light at the Vatican, the desk guy – I think his name was Marco – actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid the tour groups.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge you get just by staying here. You’re a three-minute walk from St. Peter’s, but more importantly, you’re in the middle of all these tiny family-run restaurants and shops that locals actually use. There’s this incredible pizza al taglio place literally around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and the morning sounds – church bells mixing with coffee machines and scooters – it’s just authentically Roman in a way that’s hard to find near the major tourist spots. The 9.5 rating makes complete sense when you experience it, because it’s not just about thread count and marble bathrooms (though those are perfectly nice). It’s about waking up in a real Roman neighborhood where you can grab your morning cornetto from the same bar the locals use, then walk to the Vatican before the crowds arrive. Honestly, I’ve stayed in fancier places in Rome that felt completely disconnected from the city itself – this felt like I was actually living there for a few days, just with better housekeeping.

Reviews of Borgo Pio Charme

  • Rusa from Georgia (10/10)

The apartment is in perfect location, clean, newly renovated. everything was fine, host was helpful and kind. It was just perfect!

  • Sergei from Poland (10/10)

The apartment is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of the Vatican. During our stay, visiting St. Peter’s Basilica in the morning before exploring other attractions in Rome became our daily routine! 🙂

Additionally, the street where the apartment is located is lined with restaurants, and there is a Carrefour nearby for convenience. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we expected, and we were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful welcome amenities, such as tea, coffee capsules, water, and more.

The space was very comfortable and spacious for our group of four. We also truly appreciated Jessica’s hospitality – she helped us check in smoothly, responded promptly to all our questions, and even assisted us with storing our luggage after check-out.

    We highly recommend this place!

  • Kenny from France (10/10)

Nice place, very spacious, well located.
    Same as pictures !

  • Parker-perry from United Kingdom (10/10)

There was plenty of space for four people in the apartment. It was decorated well and was clean, light and airy. Although being on a road with lots of restaurants, it was not too noisy at night. It is in a fantastic location, five minutes from Vatican City and surrounded by eateries.

The staff were incredibly helpful and really friendly, and really made the whole thing a smooth process, from getting to the apartment, to check in and check out.

  • Henrik from Netherlands (9/10)

Excellent location in a very nice house. Great rooms and beds. Perfect for 4 persons (1 family or 2 couples) The apartment is in the centre but if you close the windows no noise at all. The owner was extremely helpful and provided perfect tips about Rome. I would definitely return.

The accommodation is really nice, cozy and beautiful and the location is perfect just 5 minutes walking distance from Vatican city. You can easily reach to the other monuments as well via public transport such as trevi fountain & collosium since the bus stop is also at 5 minutes walking distance.
