Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around the Spanish Steps area, and honestly, most of them are either tourist traps or completely overpriced. But Bocca di Leone? This one actually gets it right. You’re literally tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that most people rush past on their way to Via del Corso, which means you get all the location benefits without the chaos right outside your door.

The suite itself feels more like a Roman apartment than a hotel room – and I mean that in the best way possible. The ceilings are high enough that you don’t feel cramped (you know how some of these old buildings can be), and there’s this lived-in elegance that doesn’t scream “designer hotel.” The bathroom is surprisingly spacious, which honestly surprised me given how these historic buildings usually handle modern renovations. What really sold me though was stepping out in the morning and being able to grab proper espresso at the little bar on the corner – the locals actually drink there, not just tourists taking Instagram photos.

You’re a three-minute walk from the Spanish Steps, but here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: you can cut through the small streets behind Via del Babuino and avoid most of the crowds entirely. I found myself doing this little route to get to the Pantheon area, and it felt like I had some secret knowledge of the city. The Metro’s close enough if you need it, but honestly, you’ll end up walking everywhere because the location is just that good. The staff seems to actually live in Rome – they gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t the obvious tourist spots, and when I asked about getting to Trastevere for dinner, they knew exactly which bus to catch and where the stop was. Small thing, but it matters when you’re trying to make the most of your time. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the street can get a bit echoey at night when people are walking back from dinner, but it’s Rome – that’s sort of part of the charm, and it quiets down pretty reasonably.

Reviews

  • Excellent location, nice and clean room. Poor breakfast – Christoforos from Cyprus – 20 June 2025 (9/10)

Receptionist, Serena was really kind, smiley and helpful. Excellent location, very clean and really well decorated room and shower.

What could be improved: The size of the room was little small but ok for holidays. Poor breakfast (included in the price,1 croissant, small juice and a small coffee). Our room, the standard one didn't have a good view but again we had natural light and air coming to the room.

  • Was an amazing surprise . – Debora from United States – 16 June 2025 (10/10)

    🤩 amazing

  • Exceptional – Charalampos from Greece – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

Everything. It was an excellent choice. Serena was very helpful. So was was Negresco employees. Natalia: super!,Christano as well. Mille Grazie.

  • Superb – Elaine from Malta – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful all brand new and very clean
    Excellent location

  • Will be back for sure – Leutrim from Kosovo – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

The staff was very friendly and nice. The location was 10/10. Everything was close from the property. The room was very good and clean.

What could be improved: The only thing that comes to my mind that I didn't like was the breakfast. It was a croissant, a coffee and orange juice. It was good but not enough for me. Otherwise everything else was perfect.

  • Lovely! – Amy from United Kingdom – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

The room was really big & spacious! Very modern! Very clean & reception staff very attentive. We we’re 3 young girls attending and we felt very safe and secure. Reception were kind enough to keep our bags for us once we checked out so we could continue our day.
Finally – the cafe opposite offering croissants for breakfast is fabulous!

What could be improved: The property is brand new! So like all new places there are a few very minor things that can be easily rectified!
    1) rooms need a little iron or one upon request
    2) the only bins are the little ones in toilets the bedrooms could do with one too!
    3) there’s a step in the bathroom which blends super easily in with the rest of the floor! Might be an idea to just highlight this 🙂
    4) the plugs aren’t suitable for standard 2pin adapters. You need Type L adapter plugs to use the bedside chargers! 🙂

  • Hidden gem – Lolita from Ireland – 5 May 2025 (10/10)

The location was fantastic, and the apartment was very clean and stylish. We loved everything. The breakfast was amazing, thank you to the staff. Everyone looked after us very well. We felt we were welcomed 5 star service even more for sure. We definitely will be back. Thank you for looking after us.

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing.

  • Exceptional – Anastasios from Greece – 4 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location. Brand new and clean.

  • Great room in a great location – Tedi from Albania – 30 April 2025 (10/10)

The location and everything is new and clean

What could be improved: Everything is more than perfect
