At Home Townhouse – Filiberto Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard “At Home Townhouse” I was expecting something pretty generic, but this little gem on Via Emanuele Filiberto actually lives up to its name in the best possible way. The moment you walk in, it feels like you’re staying at a stylish friend’s place rather than just another hotel room. The townhouse setup means you’re not dealing with endless corridors and elevator waits, and honestly, after a long day of walking around Rome’s cobblestones, that intimate scale is exactly what you want.
The location is one of those “locals know” spots that works perfectly for travelers. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Termini Station – and I mean actually five minutes, not that inflated hotel marketing five minutes – which makes airport transfers and day trips incredibly easy. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: this stretch of Via Emanuele Filiberto has some fantastic neighborhood restaurants that haven’t been completely overtaken by tourists yet. There’s this family-run trattoria about two blocks down that serves the kind of cacio e pepe that makes you understand why Romans get so particular about their pasta. The Santa Maria Maggiore basilica is right there too, and walking past it in the early morning when the light hits just right… well, it’s one of those moments that reminds you why you came to Rome in the first place.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms have proper blackout curtains (crucial when you’re jet-lagged), the wifi actually works throughout the building, and – this might sound small but trust me – the shower pressure is fantastic. The staff seems to genuinely care about making sure you have what you need without being hovering or pushy about it. I appreciated that they knew the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations, not just the standard tourist circuit stuff. The 9.5 rating isn’t just inflated review nonsense either; you can feel the care that goes into running this place. It’s quiet at night despite being in central Rome, which is honestly a minor miracle. The only tiny critique I’d have is that the stairs can be a bit narrow if you’re hauling a huge suitcase, but that’s pretty standard for these converted townhouses. The breakfast setup is thoughtful too – fresh pastries from a local bakery rather than the usual hotel buffet situation. You know what? Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that don’t try to be everything to everyone, and this townhouse nails that balance of being polished enough to feel special but real enough to feel authentic.

We had a fantastic sized room which was perfect for a family of 3. It was absolutely spotless. Paulo was amazing, he gave us such a warm welcome and gave us lots of tips for places to eat and visit. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Great snacks and drinks available in the communal kitchen. Perfect base for our first visit to Rome.

He even helps us with our luggage and drop us at the train station, which is highly appreciated as I’m travelling with my son. Thank you very much.
