Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Art Atelier Risorgimento Guest House, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s tucked right there on Piazza del Risorgimento, which honestly can feel a bit touristy during the day with all the Vatican crowds shuffling through. But here’s the thing about this place: once you’re inside, it actually feels like someone’s stylish Roman apartment that they’ve opened up to travelers who appreciate good design.

The whole art atelier concept isn’t just marketing fluff – they’ve really committed to it. The rooms have this sort of curated gallery vibe with local artwork on the walls, and I mean actual interesting pieces, not the generic hotel prints you usually get. My room had exposed brick in spots and these beautiful hardwood floors that creaked just enough to feel authentic without being annoying. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious too, which you know is never a given in Rome’s older buildings. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – yeah, you’re steps from St. Peter’s Square, but the piazza itself settles down once the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships or tour buses.

You’re literally a three-minute walk from the Vatican Museums entrance, which means you can actually time your visits smartly instead of fighting crowds all day. But here’s what the travel guides don’t tell you – being in Prati means you’re also close to some genuinely good neighborhood spots. There’s this little alimentari around the corner on Via Germanico where locals actually shop, and the gelato place on Via Cola di Rienzo (maybe a seven-minute walk) that’s way better than anything you’ll find near the Pantheon. The 7.8 rating feels about right to me – it’s not luxury level service, and the breakfast is pretty basic continental stuff, but the location combined with the thoughtful design makes it work. Staff was helpful when I needed restaurant recommendations, though check-in took a bit longer than expected. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just a place to crash between sightseeing, this hits that sweet spot without breaking the bank.

  Nice apartment, close to the Vatikan. Clean, nice. There was a smell from the neighboring restaurants’ kitchens in the apartment, but it was quite okay.

  The placement is great it is very close to the Vatican and if you don’t mind walking than to the center as well. Location is clean and surrounded by many bars and restaurants. Rooms looks like on the pictures and breakfast and cleaning were also provided.

  Great clean spacious apartment with a good outdoor space. 5 minutes from the Vatican and great nearby restaurants in a lovely area.
  
  What could be improved: Air conditioning does not really work so beware if going in the summer. Arranged a transfer before we travelled but on the day he was unable to do this but got a taxi from the airport cheaper.

  The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding. The shower room was lovely and the beautiful terrace made our stay. The lift worked well and we loved this whole area. Try Les Etoiles for a magical roof top experience only 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Riccardo and the young lads who look after the apartment were all very pleasant. Once you get the hang of using what’s app and have the right number communication was good.
  
  What could be improved: The step from the twin bedded area to the sitting area is not marked. Both 80 year old friends fell. One hurt her ribs and 1 had a cut on her elbow. This could have been much more serious and we had to get help each time to pick my friends up off the floor. The injuries my friend received meant she had to sleep upright on the couch and she was in a lot of pain the whole trip. The first aid kit did not even have a sticking plaster.
  The room was not replenished adequately with toilet rolls or a decent selection off breakfast products. Some days we got supplies other days we didn’t. There was onlyn1 knife for all the guests.

  We liked the privacy – it was like having an apartment for yourselves. Location was fantastic. We also enjoyed a little challenge that was getting in for the first time it felt like a scavenger hunt.
  
  What could be improved: There was a coffee machine, however, there was no kettle and we had to heat up our water in the microwave. Doable but I'd rather have a kettle.

  Location was amazing. Public transport was very close as well as shops, restaurants, city centre and sightseeings.
