Apollo Apartments Colosseo Overview

First Impressions

Walking up Via Urbana to Apollo Apartments Colosseo, you’ll notice how the street feels distinctly Roman — narrow cobblestones, locals chatting outside cafes, and that authentic neighborhood energy you can’t fake. This four-star property sits right in Monti, which honestly might be my favorite area in Rome. It’s got character without the tourist chaos, and you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Colosseum. The building itself has that classic Roman apartment feel, but once you step inside, everything’s been thoughtfully updated.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in Monti — you get the real Rome experience. There’s this little wine bar called Il Sorpasso just around the corner that locals actually frequent, and the morning espresso ritual at nearby cafes feels genuine rather than performative. The Colosseum is close enough that you can pop over for sunrise photos (trust me, it’s worth the early wake-up), but you’re also walking distance to Termini Station when it’s time to catch trains to Florence or Naples. Couples seem to really get this location — there’s something romantic about wandering these ancient streets together, especially in the evening when the lighting gets all golden.

The Space Itself

The apartment setup here is what sets this place apart from typical hotel rooms. You get actual space to spread out, which matters when you’re staying more than a night or two. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s functional enough to make morning coffee or store those amazing cheeses you’ll inevitably buy at the local markets. I mean, having a fridge changes everything when you’re traveling — you can actually keep that bottle of Frascati chilled for later. The design feels contemporary but not sterile, with touches that remind you you’re in Italy without being heavy-handed about it.

Daily Life Here

What struck me most was how easy it became to fall into a Roman rhythm. Morning espresso at the corner bar, afternoon gelato from Fatamorgana (which is ridiculously close), evening aperitivo somewhere in the neighborhood. The staff here gets that — they’re not trying to be your tour guide, but they know the area well enough to point you toward the good stuff. Parking can be tricky in this part of Rome, but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. The metro’s right there, and most of what you want to see is walkable.

Why Guests Love It

The 9-star rating makes sense once you experience the combination of location, space, and that neighborhood authenticity. Recent guests consistently mention how the area feels safe and welcoming, especially for couples exploring the city together. You’re close enough to major sights that you can easily hit the Colosseum or Roman Forum, but when you come back in the afternoon, you’re returning to a real Roman neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. It’s that balance between accessibility and authenticity that’s honestly pretty hard to find in Rome these days.

Reviews of Apollo Apartments Colosseo

  • Alexandra from United States (9/10)

It is the center of everything, and also safe. It was a direct train ($15 euro adult) from Fiumicino airport to Rome Terminal, and 13 minutes walk from the train station to Apollo Apartment Colosseo. The apartment is clean and quiet, and red sofa can be converted to full bed apart from the bunk bed and queen bed. There is also different options for food.

The Comfort of the apartment and location

  • Wendy from Austria (9/10)

The location cannot be better! The apartment is super clean, modern, with all the features that make for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The ancient Roman stone in the walls was a highlight!

Massimo is a wonderful host who not only got in touch with us prior to checkin but also helped us to check in with luggage. Our apartment was equipped basic but was equipped with necessary items- be it the kitchen or the bathroom. The location of the apartment is terrific & is accessible by walking to the majority of the attractions, train station & bus stops. It is also surrounded by good cafes, pizzeria & other restaurants offering variety. In case anyone is interested in cooking a few meals, the mercato is also located in the area to buy fresh ingredients. I would like to thank the host once again for the great hospitality & mindfulness when it came to offering us tips to go around Rome.

  • Ohad from Israel (9/10)

The apartment is equipped to a very good standard, the owner of the apartment is always available.
Located right next to the metro station, a cafe right next door. Many restaurants within a 1 to 5 minute walk. We really liked it.

  • Aristea from Greece (9/10)

I can say that the apartment was above my expectations. Personally I think it’s better than the pictures. The location was great next to the metro station and in a neighbourhood that felt safe with lots of options for food and coffee. Massimo was very helpful with us and gave us tips for our stay. Also very positive that we had almost everyday new towels. I would definitely recommend it for a family

Great location, very comfy bed and warm welcome

  • Mariel from Ireland (9/10)

Location was great. About 20 min walk from Termini train station. Would advise getting a taxi as cobbled streets are difficult with luggage. Download the FREENOW App to book taxis. Journey is priced and paid for beforehand so no surprise fees. Close to Trevi Fountain and Colleseum. Cavour stop is just across the road.
We had double bed and bunk beds in 2 separate rooms. Double room had ensuite toilet and handbasin. Massimo contacted us on WhatsApp before arrival and was very helpful.
    Good WiFi. Fridge, freezer, microwave.
No problem finding gluten free restaurants, lovely bakery nearby doing breakfast lunch and dinner and a fab selection of pastries, cakes, pasta, pizza and sandwiches. It was called Ciardi.

  • Michelle from Australia (9/10)

The host was extremely responsive, helpful and friendly. The location was fabulous! It's easy access to all main attractions of Rome. The street it is located in is fun and lively but with the windows shut, the apartment is quiet. There is a supermarket and train station within a few hundred metres. The space was comfortable.
