I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Aparthotel Colombo Roma on Via Cristoforo Colombo, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The Ostiense district isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, but you know what? That turned out to be exactly why I loved this place. It’s got that authentic Roman neighborhood feel where you’re actually living among locals, not just shuffling between tourist traps.

The building itself has this modern, clean-lined look that stands out nicely against the more traditional Roman architecture around it. What really won me over though was how spacious everything felt once I got inside. These aren’t your typical cramped hotel rooms – I mean, they call it an aparthotel for a reason. My suite had a proper kitchenette (not just a mini-fridge and coffee maker), which honestly saved me a fortune since I could grab fresh ingredients from the little markets nearby instead of eating out for every meal. The living area was separate from the bedroom, which might not sound like a big deal, but when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights, having space to spread out makes all the difference.

The location grows on you too. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your front door onto the Spanish Steps, but the metro connections are actually pretty solid – Via Cristoforo Colombo runs right into the heart of everything, and I found myself appreciating coming back to this quieter corner of the city after long days of sightseeing. There’s something satisfying about walking past the same café owner who starts recognizing you, or figuring out which bakery has the best cornetti in the morning. Plus, and this might matter if you’re traveling with kids or just need to decompress, the noise level here is so much more manageable than staying right in the centro storico where you’ve got tour groups and street performers going until all hours.

The staff clearly knows what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they had solid recommendations for restaurants that weren’t tourist traps, and when I had a minor issue with the Wi-Fi, someone was up to fix it within an hour. That 8.8 rating makes sense when you experience the place. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Rome, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re trying to enjoy a city like this. The rooms are spotless, the beds are comfortable, and you’ve got the freedom to live a little more like a local rather than feeling like you’re just passing through.

  Everything was just great, from the extremely friendly and helpful staff to the room itself which was very clean, spacious and well-equipped.
  
  The hotel is not that close to the city centre, however public transport that gets you everywhere is highly available in the neighbourhood: bus stations are just next to the hotel and the closest metro station is within 15 minutes of walking distance.

  Clean and cozy room, especially the bathroom. Besides, the breakfast is also good.
  
  What could be improved: The only drawback of this accommodation is the location. It is relatively close to the Underground and the Train Stations (around 1 km), but it is little bit far from the city center (e.g., 3 Kms from the Colosseum).

  Staff are super friendly, always have a smile on their face & are happy to help. I requested balloons as it was my partner’s birthday (usually hotels aren’t able to do this which is understandable) but it was a pleasant surprise to see balloons laid out with a little message to make his birthday extra special so thank you!

  I was worried about the location at first but i would honestly say it is perfect if you don’t mind a bus journey or two. It was nice to come out of a busy centre to a quieter area when going back to the hotel after a long day of site seeing.
  
  The bus stop is just a few minutes walk from the hotel with regular busses to get us where we needed to be with no stress at all (just follow what it says on google maps & you will be fine).
  
  We miss Rome & the hotel already but we will be back!
