Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about AnnoDomini? The name itself – it’s not trying to be trendy or cute, just quietly sophisticated in that Roman way. Tucked away on Via Anastasio II in the Aurelio district, this place feels like Rome’s best-kept secret, honestly. I mean, you’re not in the tourist circus of the city center, but you’re not stranded in some random suburb either. The Aurelio neighborhood has this authentic residential vibe – you’ll see actual Romans walking their dogs and picking up groceries, not just clusters of selfie sticks.
The hotel itself surprised me. Four stars can mean a lot of different things, but here it actually feels earned rather than inflated. The lobby has this warm, understated elegance – marble floors that aren’t too shiny, comfortable seating that doesn’t look like it belongs in a furniture showroom. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (no endless upselling speeches), and the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just polite. What really won me over, though, was how quiet it stays at night. The Aurelio area doesn’t have the chaos of central Rome – you might hear the occasional scooter, but it’s not the constant symphony of traffic and late-night revelers. I actually slept well, which is saying something for a city break.
The rooms themselves feel thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter. Good lighting for actually reading, decent shower pressure, and – this might sound minor but it’s not – electrical outlets where you need them. The whole place has this lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere real, not just passing through a generic hotel experience. And here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to fully appreciate: you’re perfectly positioned to explore Rome like Romans do. The Vatican is close enough to walk to (about 15 minutes), but you’re also near some fantastic local spots that most visitors never discover. There’s this little trattoria around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign, just locals who’ve been eating there for decades. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days here – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re trying to experience a city rather than just photograph it.

Filip from Montenegro (10/10)
Everything was above our expectations. On top of all needed equipment and appliances, we had a daily cleaning and refill of coffee and mini bar (juice, milk etc) free of charge. The breakfast was very nice.
There is a bus station and a supermarket nearby, and McDonalds right across the street (if the kids get tired of Italian specialties).
Marghe was very helpful and friendly and we were allowed to leave the luggage for a few hours after the check-out so we can freely kill some time until our flight.Chris from United Kingdom (9/10)
The property was clean and comfortable with a cleaner coming in every day to ensure everything was correct and the host was there to meet us on arrival. Breakfast was delivered to our door every morning with a variety of pastries, fruit, sandwiches etc. The water dispenser in the lobby with a sparkling/still facility was very handy.

Spacious room with private bathroom and window opening to internal courtyard, friendly welcome by Francesco and Christina. Breakfast is the highlights: rack of sandwich, pastry, fruits complemented by juice and 2 bottles of water in the fridge was perfect to start the day and end of the day too after tired legs exploring Rome. Ideal for stays in Rome with plan to visit the Vatican: 5 min by bus or 20 min walking, for visit to places of interest in downtown Rome, it’s 25-30 min by bus.
Ross from United Kingdom (10/10)
Very close to city center, the bed is very comfortable and the service was amazing.

I had a nice stay at this apartment in Rome! The place was clean, and the breakfast was very pleasant, with a good variety to start the day. The host was incredibly nice, helpful, and attentive to every detail, making sure we had everything we needed. The location was also good—very close to a bus stop, making it easy to reach the city center.

Akif from Turkey (8/10)
The staff was very attentive and even informed me via wp in every situation. However, unfortunately the sheets and pillows were not clean, I convey this as a criticism. Other than that, everything was fine.
