Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Roman hotels, and Angel Spagna Suite honestly surprised me in the best way possible. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, this is actually nice”? That’s exactly what happened here. The location is pretty incredible – you’re literally steps from the Spanish Steps, which sounds touristy until you realize what that actually means. I’m talking about being able to grab morning coffee at one of those tiny bars on Via del Babuino before the crowds show up, or walking to Villa Borghese in about ten minutes when you need to escape the chaos. The Spagna metro stop is right there too, which saved me so many taxi rides.

The suite itself feels more like a well-designed apartment than a hotel room, if that makes sense. There’s this attention to detail that you don’t always get at four-star places – I mean, the bathroom actually has decent water pressure (trust me, this matters in Rome), and the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with Italian pillows all night. What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being in such a central spot. You’d think you’d hear every tourist and Vespa, but honestly, once you close the windows, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The staff knows their stuff too – they gave me restaurant recommendations that were actually good, not just the usual tourist traps around the corner.

Here’s the thing about staying near the Spanish Steps: yes, it gets absolutely insane during peak season (avoid July and August if you can), but early mornings and late evenings? It’s magical. I’d grab a glass of wine and just people-watch from the steps around sunset – you can’t put a price on that kind of Roman experience. The hotel’s positioning means you’re walking distance from everything that matters: Via del Corso for shopping, the Pantheon if you cut through the side streets, and honestly some of the best gelato in the city at Giolitti (about a seven-minute walk). Parking is basically impossible in this area, so don’t even think about renting a car, but that’s true for most of central Rome anyway. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what matters most: location, comfort, and that feeling like you’re actually living in Rome rather than just visiting it. If you’re the type who wants to be in the thick of things but still have a peaceful place to retreat to, this place hits that sweet spot.

Reviews

  • Excellent location with very comfortable room – Connor from United States – 30 June 2025 (9/10)

I thought the location of this property was amazing and it was very clean. The room was also very comfortable with an adjustable Air Conditioner

  • Very good – Carrozza from Argentina – 24 June 2025 (8/10)

Location was great. The room was clean and really nice and quiet.

What could be improved: I was required to pay an additional amount for taxes, which I was aware of when I made the booking. However, I was disappointed to be charged an extra fee simply for using a credit card. As a non-resident, making international money transfers isn’t always straightforward, and I felt there was a lack of flexibility in accommodating this. It would have been fairer to allow credit card payments for the tax amount without imposing extra charges. This experience left me feeling quite uncomfortable.

  • Fabulous location, easy reach of transport – Sharon from United Kingdom – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

Clean and comfortable, bed was so comfortable you don't want to get up. Clean towels often if you want them done each day, we opted for saving the planet. Kettle in the room with a little fridge. View out onto the street, great seeing everyone about their day. Easy instructions, however me being me was over heating and didn't read properly. Luckily assistance was extremely prompt.

Issues with limited mobility, there is a lift (elevator) so easy on the knees at times.
Would i stay again, oh yes. Kitchen which we didn't use, was clean with coffee and the maker, some sort of little oven.

What could be improved: Only because limited mobility, step into and out bathroom, would have liked something I could put to have 2 steps instead of one. Like I said it is my issue. But just so others know. As after a day of walking and hoping on off buses knees tend to hurt 🤣

  • Pleasant room in convenient location ….. Piazza do Spagna – Frank from Australia – 11 June 2025 (8/10)

    Mainly its central location.

  • Perfect location, very short walk to the metro station which can take you anywhere, lots of eateries, supermarket and Sp – Kerrie from Australia – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

Had double glazed windows, so super quiet in the apartment, couldn’t hear outside noise

What could be improved: It was one floor in a 4 story building. This floor has 4 rooms, with a common area in the middle. You could hear people coming and going, if they were early rises or late coming back, you could hear the door close

  • Great location, great room, but only for heavy sleepers. – Ramsey from Australia – 2 May 2025 (7/10)

The suite we are in, named ‘Trevi Fountain, is spacious, with a nice, firm bed, and well maintained. Lovely bathroom, and daily towel replacement is a nice touch. Check in via WhatsApp was relatively easy, communication with the host via it was good, too. Location is excellent, and the surrounding streets are great to meander through, unlike some other areas we visited, which didn’t have the same relaxed vibe.

What could be improved: Our only issue – frequent noise that came through at quite a high volume due to the acoustic nature of the alley outside our windows, and, despite what looks like double glazed windows, one does not shut properly. So although older reviews don’t mention noise issues, we were regularly woken by ‘expressive’ locals greeting each other at any time of the night, as well as delivery trucks, and the workers who seemed to be transferring all the goods of the world to local establishments around the piazza from the alley, starting around 5.15 am every morning. Earplugs weren’t enough to deal with the the intensity of the noise, unfortunately.

  • Very good – Grech from Malta – 21 April 2025 (8/10)

    Central Position

  • Very good – Filippa from Malta – 16 April 2025 (8/10)

Super central, very clean and Elizabetta was helpful and quick to reply to any query.

  • Great location with a restaurant on the doorstep. Just round the corner from the Spanish Steps. – Patrick from United Kingdom – 13 March 2025 (8/10)

    Location is excellent

What could be improved: A bit noisy at night

  • Great location and great room, very noisy though – Lorena from Australia – 14 January 2025 (7/10)

The place was great, I would have rated it a 10 if it wasn’t for the issue that there were workers doing work in the plaza everyday from 4 am for the Valentino retail store and the noise was so much that we couldn’t sleep the entire stay, that affected our sight seeing schedule

What could be improved: The noise
