Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The moment you step onto that private terrace, you’re literally looking down at one of Rome’s most gorgeous piazzas – and I mean *the* Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere, not some random side street they’re calling a piazza. I’ve stayed in plenty of Roman apartments, but honestly, waking up to that view of the fountain and the medieval church facade is something else entirely. The terrace isn’t huge, but it’s perfectly positioned to catch the morning light, and you can actually hear the church bells without them being annoyingly loud (which is rare in this city, trust me).
The penthouse itself feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile – there’s character in the exposed beams and the way the afternoon light filters through those tall windows. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being right on the piazza. Sure, Trastevere can get pretty rowdy with all the bars and restaurants, but this spot is just removed enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. The space is well-designed too – I mean, they’ve clearly thought about how people actually use a place rather than just making it look good for photos. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to grab supplies from the morning market at Campo de’ Fiori (about a 15-minute walk across the river), and there’s proper storage space, which sounds boring but matters when you’re staying more than a few nights.
Being right on this piazza means you’re in the heart of everything that makes Trastevere special, but – and this is important – you’re not stuck in the touristy part. Walk two minutes in any direction and you’ll find the little family-run trattorias where locals actually eat, the kind of places that don’t even have English menus. The whole Santa Maria in Trastevere area has this lived-in neighborhood feel that a lot of central Rome has lost. Plus, getting around is actually manageable from here – there’s a tram stop nearby that connects you to the main train station, and you can walk to the Vatican in about 20 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of a hike. Honestly, the location alone makes this worth it, but the fact that the apartment itself is genuinely comfortable and thoughtfully set up (not just pretty) puts it over the top. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right in a way that feels authentic rather than manufactured.

Excellent location and spacious accommodations. Great value! – Greta from United States – 14 February 2025 (9/10)
A very spacious and comfortable apartment right in the center of vibrant Trastevere! Easy walking access to all of the major sights and neighborhoods. Easy communication with property manager. We loved staying there!
Very good – Anne from United States – 16 October 2024 (8/10)
The terrace was amazing! Best view in Florence.
And there was a lift, which was great – and unique – for the third-floor apartment.
The location was perfect: walking distance to everything we wanted to see.
What could be improved: The bar close by was very loud until 2 am every night. Earplugs helped.Wonderful, very accommodating hosts who went over and above to assist us. – Michael from South Africa – 6 October 2023 (10/10)
What could be improved: Having to climb 4 flights of stairs
Charming in every way! – Janellen from United States – 15 July 2023 (10/10)
The location was spectacular – beautiful overlooking the piazza, listening to the church bells and fountain, and great restaurants all around as well as a grocery store not far away to get supplies. Gelato shop next door was a big hit with the kids. Communications were excellent and helpful and really nice to be greeted in person and given a full tour of the property. It was perfect for our family of 5 – the master suite upstairs had such a pretty view and we loved the terrace. It was extremely hot in Rome when we were there so the AC was really necessary and so valuable! Bathrooms were very clean and modern and nice showers. Kitchen was snug but had everything we needed! I’m honestly not sure I understood it was two floors when I booked, so that was really nice and let the kids and the parents have plenty of space. Charming apartment!!
Best location and beautiful apartment. – Georgie from Australia – 1 July 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: No privacy in upstairs bathroom!!Exceptional – Anthony from Canada – 28 April 2023 (10/10)
amazing location and space
History surrounds you, a great apartment to launch into the Etrernal City – Danielle from Australia – 24 September 2022 (9/10)
Great location in Trastevere, the outlook over Piazza Santa Maria is the best for people watching, always something going on and easy walking to everything Rome has to offer.
What could be improved: Some of the basics need an update, small things like curtain rods, roll up blinds and privacy for the upstairs shower can be easily fixed to make this place a world beater.very convenient 2 bedroom flat in trastevere – Anonymous from Australia – 15 July 2022 (8/10)
great location with lovely roof terrace. good and fast communication with the host.
What could be improved: the plumbing was not at its best.Good – Karla from United States – 7 September 2024 (7/10)
The location was close to shops and restaurants
What could be improved: Transportation was a bit limitedThe location of the apartment allowed us to be well-connected but the overall condition of the apartment was below expec – Yara from Israel – 17 September 2023 (7/10)
Location
What could be improved: Facilities are old and some need maintenance like door locks and handles. The room downstairs is too tight to fit three beds. We could barely move inside. The fact that the closet was outside the rooms is impractical so we had to keep our clothes in our suitcases.
