Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about All’Orologio? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re standing there – it’s tucked right near the old clock tower area, and honestly, the whole block feels like you’ve stepped back a few centuries. I mean, Via dei Banchi Nuovi sounds fancy, but it’s basically this narrow cobblestone street where you’ll hear Italian echoing off the buildings at all hours. The hotel itself sits in this gorgeous old building that’s been restored without losing that authentic Roman character – you can tell they didn’t just slap modern fixtures everywhere and call it a day.

The location is pretty brilliant if you actually want to experience Rome rather than just photograph it. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Piazza Navona (which gets absolutely packed during dinner hours, just so you know), but the hotel street stays surprisingly quiet even when the main square is buzzing. I loved that you could grab your morning coffee at the little bar around the corner where the locals go – not the tourist trap places charging four euros for an espresso. The rooms have this interesting mix of period details and modern comfort that actually works. The bathrooms are properly updated, thank goodness, because let’s be honest, some of these historic Rome hotels skimp on the plumbing situation. Here, you get good water pressure and everything functions like it should.

What really sets this place apart is how the staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic list – he actually asked what I was in the mood for and steered me toward this tiny trattoria down a side street that I never would’ve found on my own. The 9.2 rating makes sense because it’s those little touches that add up. The building can get a bit echo-y in the stairwells (it’s old, what do you expect?), but the rooms themselves are well-insulated from street noise. If you’re coming during peak summer months, definitely appreciate that they’ve got proper air conditioning – not always a given in these historic buildings. The whole experience feels like staying in Rome rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense. You’re close enough to hit all the major sites without feeling like you’re trapped in the tourist bubble, and honestly, that balance is harder to find than you’d think.

  • Gabriel from Romania (10/10)

Great location and nice vintage room design! Communication with the owner was excellent both via messages and at the location. The snacks in the kitchen area were very useful and the fact that we were able to leave our luggage at the location for a few hours after check-out was very helpful. The bed in our room on the 3rd floor was a bit short so if you are taller you might have some difficulty, but for us this is not a reason not to come back.

  • Niamh from Ireland (9/10)

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were excellent and always at call if we needed them. We found the place very easily and check in was very efficient. The room was perfect and the location was excellent. As two young women we felt very safe at all times. The street is full of beautiful shops and restaurants. All the tourist attractions were within walking distance and nothing was more than a 30 minute walk! Would definitely recommend people to stay here

  • Julia from Estonia (10/10)

The location is ideal, within walking distance of major attractions. The room was spacious, spotless, and featured an incredibly comfortable bed – ideal for relaxing after exploring the city.

One standout feature was the complimentary snacks and coffee available throughout the day – such a thoughtful touch! The staff were friendly and helpful, making sure every detail of our stay was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Rome!

  • Novell from Singapore (9/10)

Location was central to all the tourist sites, walkable distance of within 30mins to the main points. Host was very approachable and friendly with food recommendations.

  • Amy from South Africa (10/10)

Wonderful stay in the perfect area. The staff were very helpful and the room was beautiful, comfortable and very clean.

  • Paulus from Netherlands (9/10)

For a room in Rome, this is a very good size and price. Price-Quality is a 10! The staff was so incredibly friendly. Very relaxed area to stay. if you are old, there is no elevator and lot of stairs. So if you are handicapped or have weak legs, this is not your accommodation. For people with a normal condition, this is one of the best options in Rome.
