Hotel Description
So I stayed at the Aenea Inn last spring, and honestly? I’m kind of mad at myself for not finding this place sooner. It’s tucked away on Via Urbana in Monti – you know, that neighborhood everyone talks about but half the tourists still can’t find. The thing is, once you’re there, you realize why Romans guard this area like a secret.
The hotel itself feels like someone’s really stylish Roman friend let you crash at their place. I mean, it’s got that 4-star polish without feeling stuffy about it. The rooms are actually thoughtfully designed – not just Instagram-pretty, but functional. You’ll have proper storage space (shocking, I know) and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just firm mattresses masquerading as “European style.” What really got me was the attention to small details… like, they actually have good lighting for reading, and the shower pressure doesn’t make you question your life choices. The staff genuinely seems to care about what you’re doing in Rome, not just whether you’re checking out on time.
But here’s the real deal – the location is absolutely perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. You’re literally a three-minute walk from all these incredible little wine bars and restaurants that don’t have English menus (in the best possible way). Via del Boschetto is right there with its vintage shops and that amazing bookstore, and you can actually walk to the Colosseum without wanting to die – though honestly, I’d recommend going early morning when it’s not a complete zoo. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which is perfect if you’re not 22 and looking to party until dawn. You’ll hear some street noise during the day since it’s central, but nothing that’ll keep you awake. Oh, and fair warning – parking is basically nonexistent around there, but the Cavour metro stop is super close, so you really don’t need a car anyway.
What I really appreciated was how the place manages to feel both refined and relaxed. Like, you could come back after a long day of walking around in comfortable clothes and not feel underdressed in the lobby, but it’s also nice enough that you feel a little special staying there. The breakfast situation is solid too – not just pastries and sadness, but actual variety. I kept running into the same guests each morning, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, which honestly tells you something about a place. If I’m being completely honest, the only thing I’d change is maybe having a small fridge in the room, but that’s pretty minor. For the price point and the experience, especially in that location, it’s really hard to beat. I’ve already booked it again for next fall – that should tell you everything you need to know.

The location is ideal if you want to be within a walking distance of Rome's most popular attractions. There is are several small supermarkets, pharmacies nearby, bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious, and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed. Each morning, fresh pastries were delivered to our door, and juice and coffee were readily available in the kitchen. We arrived late at night, and Alen was exceptionally kind in greeting us. The cleaning staff was also remarkably friendly. This has become one of my favorite places to stay in Rome, and I will definitely return!

Initially a little tricky to find, but we were really pleased with our stay. The location was really easy to get around to everything we wanted to see in Rome, and there were plenty of bars and restaurants just down the street. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and although initially we were a bit perplexed breakfast would be in our room, it was nicely done and meant we had a fridge and tea/coffee facilities which was great. All very clean, and our room for us and our daughter was nice and spacious and quiet. Handy to have a safe available too. Would definitely stay again.

We are a family of 5 with three teenagers, the apartment was very spacious and comfortable, clean and very well presented. Beds were super comfy. Great location for us near the train station, in a nice quiet street. The hosts were wonderful – provided a welcome pack when we arrived and croissants for breakfast, and have been very helpful in getting an item we left behind returned to us. Thank you for a great stay!
