Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Vatican-area hotels, and honestly, most of them are either overpriced tourist traps or cramped budget places that make you question your life choices. But 94Rooms Vatican Guest House on Via Vigliena? This one actually gets it right, and I mean that in the best possible way.
First thing you notice pulling up to this place – it’s tucked away on this quiet residential street that feels worlds apart from the chaos around St. Peter’s, even though you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the Vatican walls. Via Vigliena is one of those Roman streets where actual locals live, you know? There’s a little alimentari on the corner where the owner will grunt at you in the most endearing way, and the morning sounds are more about espresso machines than tour buses. The building itself has that solid, understated Roman elegance – none of that flashy hotel signage screaming “TOURIST ACCOMMODATION.” When I first walked in, the lobby felt more like stepping into a well-appointed Italian apartment than a typical hotel, which honestly set the tone for everything else.
What really won me over was how they handle the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms – and yeah, there really are 94 of them, though it never feels crowded – have these little touches that show someone was thinking about real travelers, not just Instagram photos. Decent-sized bathrooms (rare in Rome, trust me), windows that actually open so you can get that gorgeous Roman evening air, and thank god, air conditioning that works without sounding like a helicopter landing. The breakfast situation is solid too, though nothing revolutionary – proper Italian coffee, fresh pastries, and they don’t give you grief if you wander down at 9:30 instead of the crack of dawn.
Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you – you’re close enough to walk to the Vatican Museums’ entrance without breaking a sweat, but far enough from Via della Conciliazione that you won’t hear groups of tourists at 6 AM. The Ottaviano metro stop is maybe five minutes away, which honestly makes this a better base for exploring all of Rome than staying in Centro Storico where everything costs twice as much. There’s this little trattoria called Da Enzo practically around the corner that serves the kind of cacio e pepe that makes you understand why Romans are so particular about their pasta. And if you need groceries or pharmacy stuff, the whole Prati neighborhood is right there – it’s where Romans actually shop, not just tourists buying overpriced water bottles.
The staff deserves a mention too, because they strike that perfect balance between helpful and not hovering. They’ll give you actual directions instead of just pointing vaguely, and when I had a flight delay issue, the front desk guy spent twenty minutes helping me sort it out without making it feel like a huge inconvenience. That’s the kind of thing that turns a decent stay into one you’d actually book again, you know?

Reviews
A cool Roman vacation – Aleksandra from Poland – 11 February 2025 (9/10)
Very cozy, nicely decorated and clean apartment. Perfect contact with the friendly Owner. Location ideal – most of Rome's attractions can be reached on foot.
What could be improved: –Good – Adi from Israel – 29 October 2024 (7/10)
Good location, few minutes walk from Metro or bus station.
Clean and organized room.
What could be improved: We couldn't access the building and received no response from the intercom when we arrived at late evening, which was frustrating, especially since we had no internet to communicate with the hotel. This situation could have been easily resolved if we had been given the Wi-Fi password in advance.
since room was in underground, any noise from the street is heard.Overall a great choice! – Μορφούλα from Greece – 12 October 2024 (8/10)
The location is really convenient and provides many transportation options (metro, bus) to the city centre.
The neighbourhood is very quiet and safe.
The bed is comfortable and the cleaning services are provided daily. Also, the staff is very helpful and kind.
Totally recommend it especially for a couple.
What could be improved: The size of the room could be bigger.Lovely stay – Cara from United Kingdom – 26 July 2024 (8/10)
Great location, modern and clean!
What could be improved: The shower pressure wasn’t too greatGreat value for money in a well connected, yet calm area of Rome. Air conditioned! – Aneta from Bulgaria – 5 July 2024 (9/10)
Very clean, charmingly decorated, on a very quiet street.
What could be improved: Bathroom was a bit weird, but ok.Superb – Sophie from United Kingdom – 25 June 2024 (9/10)
Lovely property. Very clean and tidy. Good location for the city centre and very helpful and friendly staff.
What could be improved: Very nosing in the morning hoovering at early hours and banging around. Only happened on 1 morning so it wouldn’t stop me from staying again.Very good – Ali̇ from Turkey – 19 March 2024 (8/10)
Easy access to walk to the city center. Room, bathroom, linens were clean. There are free options such as coffee and tea.You need to make a reservation in advance for parking. You can change the towels every day for a fee.
What could be improved: The room we stayed in was small. I think the bed size was not standard. It might be a problem for tall people like me. Towels are changed 1 in 3 days. It may be better to change every day. Because the towels you use do not dry. Bathroom slippers are not provided.Very good – Malgorzata from Poland – 4 October 2023 (8/10)
Clean, nice, some sweets for children, water, everything well prepared
What could be improved: A little too noisy from the streetSuperb – Arkadiusz from Poland – 24 January 2023 (9/10)
Great location, you can walk to the center of Rome in 10 minutes, good cafes and restaurants in the area. Very good approach of the host, there was no need to fill in the personal data in the application, we checked in via phone with our documents. Great value for money.
What could be improved: Condition of the room wasn't 100% perfect, but the price reflects that, still 8/10.Good – Vlad from United Kingdom – 28 July 2022 (7/10)
friendly workers around
What could be improved: the lights was non completely comfortable
